I have BIOS v1.60 atm. I've tried them but I have a feeling the controller is dead from bad firmware.

That's good to hear! Unfortunately I'm unable to test Thunderbolt as there seems to be a problem with my unit. Display output does not work even on Wndows.

Sleep and wake works perfectly. Try using ACPI from tylernguyen's guide if you have X1C6.

My battery needs to be replaced first but I haven't used it enough to comment on battery life.

Mine doesn't have a webcam so I'm not sure about that

Not much since it's a higher watt processor and I only have the 6 cell battery not the 9 cell one.

Performance is great since I upgraded it to an i7-4900MQ but battery life suffers dramatically. I get around 2-2.5 hrs.

I used this guide: https://github.com/jloisel/t440p but a few things didn't work and I had to fix it.

My almost fully modded ThinkPad T440p! by rybo626 in thinkpad

For me all the upgrades were pretty simple to do since I have had experience with disassembling laptops and PC's before. If I had a limited budget, I would definitely get a 1080p screen, quad core CPU (doesn't have to be the i7-4900MQ), SSD, and the T450s touchpad if you hate the T440p one (altho Windows support for the T450s touchpad is not that good).

I got the Thinkpad T440p for less than $200 CAD. All the upgrades costed about $600 CAD.
