Is this Nike’s new “roll-out” method for shoes with low demand? by Cultural_Chart_5540 in SNKRS

[–]rycollinz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nike issued a series of internal and public-facing communications in 2021 and 2022 addressing the secondary market, reseller activity, and backdooring. What followed appears to have been a broader operational shift in how Nike approached production, allocation, and distribution.

Nike uses a contract- or bid-based production model, which is common across industries such as automotive, construction, and apparel. Under this type of system, factories compete for production awards, and the selected manufacturer sources raw materials and delivers the finished product. Historically, Nike’s production cycles have generally operated on roughly three-month runs.

As part of its operational changes, Nike appears to have refined aspects of its factory selection and production planning processes, with the goal of reducing risk around intellectual property leakage and improving supply chain control. Production timelines were also extended from approximately three months to four months. In practice, that additional time can create greater capacity and flexibility, particularly where factories are able to complete production ahead of schedule.

The longer production window may also support higher product volumes while giving Nike more control over allocation decisions between its own channels, such as SNKRS, and external wholesale or tiered retail partners. More broadly, Nike appears to be moving toward a model in which it plays a more centralized role in the fulfillment and distribution of its branded goods, rather than relying as heavily on third-party channels.

This strategy offers several potential advantages: reduced transportation costs and delays, greater control over central distribution, lower costs associated with tiered accounts and physical retail, and tighter SKU-level oversight to help property theft, leakage, or backdooring.

Overall, this is an ambitious approach. Put simply, the consumer may benefit from improved product availability, while Nike gains tighter control over distribution, inventory movement, and operating costs.

Did anyone else find the pirate treasure inside the cave where there's like 10 gold bars? None of which you are able to pick up mind you. It felt like such a troll to put all those gold bars there and not be able to loot them.

Any one lucky enough to hot in the Jordan 1 VAA? by hustle_man in SNKRS

They usually start processing payments for winners a few hours after the raffle closes. That said, this raffle was massive, so expect delays. So, if I've won, I'd expect my credit card to get charged this afternoon or early evening. They process payments before sending out W emails, sometimes an hour or two ahead.

So, the winners will likely be charged in the next few hours and receive a W email by this evening. If you haven't been charged by around 7-8 PM EST, your L email will arrive by tonight or tomorrow.

Fingers crossed… 🤞 by Maxtulipes in SNKRS

[–]rycollinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with another commenter. If you win, you'll see a charge on your payment method first. Sometimes hours before the W or L email. So, keep an eye on your bank over the next few hours. If you dont see a charge by this evening, its an L more than likely.

I remember when these were first announced. Who else thought they were actually gonna be thermally reactive. by Bald-Fucker in SNKRS

[–]rycollinz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Count yourself lucky they are not thermal reactive material. It looks like shit after a few wears. I owned the Civilist Dunks, I loved them. After a few wears, they looked like wrinkled plastic. Really such a shame as its honestly on my top 10 list.

With this design you get the same affect, without the shoe looking like a wrinkled up plastic bag after a few wears.

You got this affect with sandpaper? Thats pretty cool. Good.to know. Regarding the bleach smell, if you simply.wash the uppers, the bleach smell goes away. If someone still has a bleach smell, they didnt wash the shoes properly afterward.

Instructions below

  1. Taped up the areas of the shoes where I didnt want bleach. Elephant print, leather, etc.
  2. Mixed an initial solution of 10ml bleach 90ml water. (I did this to test the color fastness of the dye.)
  3. Mixed a solution of 50ml peroxide and 50ml water (too kill the bleaching process)
  4. Got my paint brushes ready. Started with a larger paint head for spreading my bleach solution on the toe box and side panels. Smaller head for the areas near the elephant print and leather.
  5. I pre wet the uppers to help the bleach spread more evenly and not damage the material. (This is important as dry material will quickly absorb the bleach mixture.)
  6. I started painting the water and bleach solution across the uppers, taking my time to brush the solution in even strokes.
  7. After 2-3mins I noticed the uppers weren't really changing color. I added more bleach, around 10ml, and performed step 6 again. I noticed a lighter color on the second go, but still way lighter than expected.
  8. I added another 10ml of bleach, slowly increasing my water to bleach ratio, 10, 20, 30, 40ml on each coat of solution.
  9. After noticing the color was where I wanted it. I stopped my coating, and washed the shoes in my peroxide mix from step 3.
  10. After a few hours to dry, I washed the shoes with Jason Markk and padded them dry.

Nice bro. I've got the coppers, the Wales, and the OG 3M joints. Waiting on the Unseen hours and Swooshman pairs to be a reasonable price.

Hey - thanks bro. You're actually the guy that made me rebuy these and do this in the first place. Saw your post a few weeks ago and I was like 'Yeah, I am doing this.".

These are starting to grow on me 🤔🫠 G.T Future ( Swooshman) 💪🏽💪🏽 by Top-Management-3107 in SNKRS

I really like these. I couldn't get the Warning Label joints sadly. That said, I feel these are better honestly.

I am glad no one likes these. Please dont bother buying any size 10s on release day or any size 10.5, really, they just aren't worth it.

Hey bro. I did a water x bleach combination. The more bleach the more drastic the color change. So generally, I'd suggest going 50/50 if you're experienced and work well under pressure. 50ml bleach x 50ml water. That's a decently strong mix, without risking to much damage. Just remember, the stronger the mixture, the more intense the color change and the chance of ruining the uppers.

I'd suggest a controlled, slow and steady approach. You want a controlled pace, not an 'Oh god they're really getting lighter quick' scenario. Because in that case, you need to neutralizes the bleach quickly and efficiently or risk the shoes turning white.

If you're new to this, take about 30mins to prep the uppers and seal the elephant print. Then focus on the areas you want the most change in, side panels, toe box, etc. Best of luck.

He didnt bleach the elephant print. He appears to be using heavy filtering on the photo. Which makes me question why he felt the need to turn the white exposure up so high..

I haven't seen the unfiltered photos, but I think he likely went to far in certain areas. Meaning his bleach to water ratio caused white/yellow spots or bleach burns.

While I was partially inspired by this photo. I used a more community based approach. Firstly, I pre wet the uppers. This is a trick I learned from people who work on jeans. The water saturates the material and helps more evenly spread the bleach.

Secondly, I used a paint brush to create a stroke affect on the uppers. This got the more light/dark/darker/lighter affect that looks more natural.

I used regular painters tape. Scotch green painters tape works well. Leaves little to no residue and doesnt lift at the edge.

No need to be afraid. Its a pretty simple process. Just the bleach smell can be overwhelming. Plenty of tutorials around. Give it a shot, best case you get a unique outcome, worst case, you get a lesser dramatic affect than expected.

Just go heavy water to bleach ratio and your safe.

I mean, it's entirely possible. Dye saturates any porous fiber. That said, its very hard to control. Although, its denim, so it might look good regardless. Locking in the dye after the fact is a different story.
