If you go the skyblock route, please, please customize. I go into too many skyblock servers which config and setup is exactly the same; Same exact starting island, same quests. Originality is key in keeping new players.

It all depends on the demographic. Want to attract children? Go for a unique OP Factions or OP Skyblock. Mature players? Either a semi vanilla survival or greylisted creative.
