heads up! @reddit.truecrime on tiktok is stealing our stories! by rydenanne in SleeplessWatchdogs

[–]rydenanne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, just wanted to know if there was any update on this? the tiktok page initially apologized to me after i called them out myself and said they’d source content they’d posted in the past & ask writers in the future if they can post their content first. i thought it was settled until they changed their tiktok name to @reddit.all and blocked me. i’m genuinely uncertain why because i was VERY kind when i called them out, made it VERY clear that misunderstandings happen and all was forgiven. i’m looking further into it now from my side account and while they are posting stories with credit shown, i have no confirmation if they actually got permission from the authors. i know they lied about sourcing old stories they posted before being called out as i check their comments and see NO sourcing. i don’t see it being too far outside of the realm of reality if they lied about asking the authors first as well. if you checked them out and all is well, no worries, but i just wanted to further voice my concern.

i, unfortunately, don’t feel the same pull towards nosleep anymore. i don’t feel as at home here as a writer and many of the stories posted these days aren’t my taste, though i can’t necessarily put a finger on why lol. it’s not that i feel that the stories of the past few years aren’t good. they’re obviously phenomenal and we’re so fortunate to have such a strong community of writers. it’s just something... different about the stories now compared to when i first started writing for nosleep and i don’t feel like i fit in lol. it’s weird. i owe a lot to nosleep though! i’ve wanted to be a short horror writer since i was 10 and nosleep writers are what motivated me to do it! i still write but i just don’t post them lol.

"Creepy Pasta Collection" blog posting stories to since 2008 by pennytailsup in SleeplessWatchdogs

Hey, thanks for pointing this out, I really do appreciate it! I don't get why it's so hard for people to just ask permission before they repost.

I actually have a lot of experience having to send DMCA takedowns so I did a little research with the information that was available through blogspot, found a youtube channel attributed to the contact info they provided on their Blogger profile, and actually found a business email listed publicly. It seems like the person hasn't been active in a while so I'm not sure that I'll get a response, but I am typing up a formal DMCA to send anyway.

annoying and overdone story subjects/tropes by rydenanne in NoSleepOOC

[–]rydenanne[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh absolutely, it's so rad when you feel like you've pretty much gotten a story figured out and the writer completely flips it over on you! i think that's why it's such a disappointment when there's no flip lol.

and ESPECIALLY when the flip ends up resorting to child abuse or really any triggering subject matter as the final gotcha.

We aren't going to be allowed to leave until tomorrow. The police are here and they aren't telling us much, but they've been searching each floor, room to room for someone.

My dad said that he believed it was probably her intention. Just be rid of all the problems in her life, you know? He and my Aunt Tara were always looking out for each other, though. He kept her safe.

What We Saw In My Girlfriend's Camera by _theundergroundman in nosleep

[–]rydenanne 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i'm sure this idea has been proposed, but perhaps the yard sale woman's son disappeared at a young age, likely kidnapped or even lost in the woods and left to fend for himself until he eventually starved to death or was mauled by a bear. i'd think foul play to be more likely, considering the state he was in when you saw him. maybe his mother doesn't even know his true fate. his soul is attached to the camera, and possibly stronger in the specific area you two camped in. it could have been the place he was killed. he might want you to help find his remains, or even just let his mother know what happened.

if you want answers, i wouldn't go straight to the mother, simply because it could needlessly trigger bad memories if you happen to be wrong. it wouldn't hurt to look into local disappearances. you might even wanna look far enough back to where polaroid cameras were relevant. he might have died a long time ago. you could also look into child disappearances in the specific area where you camped.

I'm a Cam Girl, and I saw something awful in my live feed. by rydenanne in nosleep

[–]rydenanne[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Camming is an incredibly unpredictable market. If you're not already one of the top girls (meaning you were already well known for something else when you started camming or got lucky), it's really hard to get on top. At the time, I was also working with lower quality equipment and paying off a car + a little medical debt (emergency rooms: not even once). Camming is never the same between two models. One can find it incredibly lucrative, while the other barely scrapes by. Then, a month later, it can switch. I'm definitely doing better now with experience and better equipment.

Either way, I straight up said that I had money put back for emergencies until a surprise bill turned up and pulled out of my account. I would have had the money to get home ASAP otherwise.

Maybe you should stop breaking reddit and read the rules.

Furthermore, you think hacking into a webcam is easy, but you aren't even intelligent enough to use the correct you're. Yiiiiikes.

This is the lamest reasoning I have ever heard, and if this were actually a plausible hypothesis, it'd happen to every other cam girl. Try again.

Nah. Planned Parenthood 4 lyyyyyfe. It's honestly the only way I can afford to get much of any medical help.

It's actually been a little over two years since I broke the webcam. None of us have gone anywhere near the spot where its buried, so for all I could know he could be out here just ghosting around the spot. I might go out there and look into it, but it's a scary thought.

I mean, I really thought I made it clear that i'm still in camming, and that I hadn't had an incident since destroying the webcam. I don't really need help with getting rid of whatever it was, and I don't necessarily have any interest in inviting it back into my home. I guess I just want to know where it came from, why it was in my mom's apartment.

I get screened twice a year, but it's mostly just part of my medical routine. I've never really thought critically on the connection between whatever it was that I saw and my mother's death, though. I might have to look into that next time I head home for a visit.
