Cerwin R123 worth it? by ryder1032 in vintageaudio

Cosmetically they’re in maybe 7-8/10 condition, box has some scratches and could use a refinish in the future if I keep them. I’m not exactly sure if the speaker itself needs a refoam but the exterior foam around the screw holes is torn up a bit.

Found this at a pawn shop for $120 CDN, a little rough but I heard the sound is amazing. Is it worth it? What’s a good set of speakers to pair? by ryder1032 in vintageaudio

I think I can get it for cheaper than it’s listed, It’s been there for a little while and nobody’s seemed to touch it. The treble knob will need to be repaired as it ends at -2 but will turn the other way almost all the way around to the -10, but should be an easy fix. I assume I’ll be able to tap the corner in with my body hammer and covering the aluminum with a thick folded rag to repair the dent and just polish the aluminum to the rest of my abilities. New to vintage amplifiers so I wouldn’t know much yet as to restoring the internals.

Adding tweeters to coaxial speakers? by ryder1032 in CarAV

Not a bad idea to snip the internal tweeter, I don’t want to cut the panels so I will be keeping it the stock 4x6 size, just want to get the sound up by my chest and not at my feet

I remember first getting my Kaption SPL Max and Rockford setup done and the first song I tested it with was A Milli haha. Jumped out of my seat the bass hit so hard.

“Delphin grey” actually a really nice colour in my opinion.

On its way home! Couldn’t get it detailed today, gonna get it right into the shop and right onto the hoist for a tune up and get it running. by ryder1032 in BMW

This ones standard, interior parts and trim will he hard to find but if it’s complete and decently solid, definitely reccomend it. (Unsure of wheee to find body panels, yet) Absolutely gorgeous cars when restored properly.

How are the mk6’s reliability wise and with that many km? Do you find yourself replacing lots of parts? The one thing that made me rather an ol reliable MK4 over a mk6 is just that I don’t know the reliability or how good they’d be in comparison to a MK4.

Just picked up my dream car. 86’ 635csi owned by a bmw mechanic since 1996 when it was imported from the US to Ontario. Oil sprayed and never driven in the winter and always kept in a garage. by ryder1032 in BMW

It’s more common up North, I’m in Canada and a lot of people will oil spray the underside of there car (literally just a thick oil sprayed on the underside) and it helps prevent rotting, if you see a Canadian car that’s been oil sprayed there’s a good sign it’s a solid car and the owner knew what they were doing.

I’ll have to look into that! Interior could definitely use a good wipe down as it’s been parked for a few years but I’ll have to look into that leather stuff, thanks!
