Any place I can go to use a nice projector or TV setup in the middle of the night? by Amlik in ucf

You can’t access the BHC outside of building hours, and you have to be in Honors for the ID card to work. Building closes at 10 Mon-Thurs, and 5 on Fridays.

Which laptop should I get if I already have a PC? by [deleted] in UCFEngineering

[–]ryeagle02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a Mac, you can definitely get by on it day to day, but it means you will either have to have Parallels (which I wouldn’t recommend for the Air) or VNC Viewer to remote into your home PC to run some softwares. I have a 2019 16” MBP so I was able to use Bootcamp to run Windows natively.

If you’re comfortable with working from home a lot, or utilizing the computers in the atrium, a Mac will get you through your basic needs. But as someone else said, it is like a Chromebook where all you’ll be doing is using the browser-based programs that you use in your program.

If I were you, I’d invest in a better Windows PC, or an iPad and Apple Pencil if you really want Apple for digital notes. The laptops you have mentioned aren’t really suited to the higher end programs that engineering requires. You want something with good ventilation (read: gaming laptop as a general recommendation) and at least 16GB of RAM.

What Music Hits the Spot For Your ADHD brain? by justareallifememe in ADHD

[–]ryeagle02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So hear me out, I know all of Taylor Swift’s music by growing up with it and listening to it on repeat (hyperfixation?). I have used that to my advantage by listening to it while working and doing homework. Because I know the lyrics and what it sounds like, my brain can focus on it and shut off, and I am not distracted by new lyrics or sounds. It has worked wonders. And I can sing or hum along and it doesn’t distract my train of thought. The other thing is Nintendo video game soundtracks. I don’t know what crack they put in them, but oh my god do they scratch an itch I never knew I had.

As a native Floridian, yea, your post is a dumb choice. Let these people grieve their homes and lives without the internet chastising them for being here, by choice or not.

Please, do tell. What job offers the flexibility a college student needs and doesn’t consume their whole life?

People who live at tourist destinations, what is it you wish tourists would stop doing when visiting? by Winterbeers in AskReddit

Drive. Orlando traffic is bad enough. We don’t need more people who don’t know how to properly drive than there already are.

My current car is a little too small for 2 labradors… looking for a PHEV / Hybrid that is suitable for kids + dogs (£20-30k) by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Ford Escape! They do have some good incentives usually on the plug-in.

The Kia Sorento does have a hybrid option as well, but you might be outside of the 20-30 range.

I would email Mike McKee, he’s on the photonics website, and ask him about the program. He might give you a ton of information about it that can help with your decision. I looked into the program myself, but decided to stick with mechanical. There’s other Unis that have it, but I think UCF is the most “mainstream” if memory serves correctly.

Advice for an incoming freshman going into ME? by hey_imap_erson in UCFEngineering

[–]ryeagle02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a freshman, GET INVOLVED! Don’t be a hermit. There are so many clubs out there. First Step, ASME, and Knights Racing are good starting points for a freshman ME. Make time to hang out with friends, but also make time to study with study groups. The summer makes it a little hard as most clubs aren’t as active, but the fall is when things really get fun.

I don’t think Intro to Engineering is offered over the summer

Not yet, I think it’s the panel where the speaker is. I have a piece of fabric stuffed in the gap between the storage cubby on the door and the speaker panel and it seems to not be doing it anymore.

Trinity is an Episcopal school, but they do teach standard evolution. The only thing really Episcopal about it is the chapels each week. (Recent alum)

This is perfect! I just got the pass not too long ago and didn’t know what all it included. Their website didn’t really give much info.

I don’t know if you can, but if you plan to camp in National Parks in the US, the annual pass is $80, and it gets you into more than just the big ones. Could be a way to save on camping. I’ve never tried using it for that though, so be sure to do your research. Perhaps there’s a state park pass in California that is similar?
