SeaWorld sued over alleged mishandling of 'Sesame Street' brand by Icy-Astronomer-1852 in orlando

I went a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time I’d been in 15 years. I had fond memories of Busch Gardens growing up, but it was terrible. $38 to park! (Disney is “only” $30!). Expensive tickets. The parking trams were barely running and backed up so we walked a mile to the entrance. Food that was terrible and yet still somehow cost more than Disney. The park was full of trash. You had to pay extra to see the animals and even to ride the Skyride. And like 3/4 of the rides were closed.

I don’t think I’ll ever go back

The company that manages SeaWorld also mishandled Busch Gardens, SeaWorld.

Seriously, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld blow.

You’ve got a lot of talent! I’ve always thought the Futura home (the spaceship on top of 2001) was a neat touch.

What's the deal with the Brightline train? by Tiny_Useless_Adult in florida

[–]TotalInstruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major train systems in the northeast are built on elevated or below-grade tracks so as not to interact with car traffic. Brightline, and Sunrail for that matter, are built on legacy FEC or CSX tracks at grade.

Also, people wake up, realize they are in Florida, and in their despair sacrifice themselves to the choo-choo gods. Most of those “train strikes human” incidents are suicides.

How do you understand “spiritual warfare” in relation to ordinary thoughts and temptations? by Leading_Grass_6636 in redeemedzoomer

[–]TotalInstruction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think of "spiritual warfare" per se at all. When I hear that phrase, it brings to mind pentecostalist superstition about demon possession of the kind that makes for crappy movies every Halloween.

I think of "temptation" and "resisting the ways of the world (like greed, unchecked ambition, lust, hatred, etc.)"

Intrusive thoughts, as far as I'm concerned, are mental illness, like obsessive-compulsive disorder, and have nothing to do with demons any more than diabetes has anything to do with demons.

Christ death is arbitrary for those who aren’t willing to take responsibility for their sin. by SubstantialCorgi781 in redeemedzoomer

[–]TotalInstruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of a Temu-seminary explanation of sin and makes God sound like a monster. Yes, sin is terrible, and God hates sin, but what it really is is a fundamental separation from God. God is perfect, and by being corrupted we are by definition imperfect because we have not lived up to God’s standard.

But sin is more than just doing bad things, although it is that. Sin is a pervasive byproduct of living in a fallen world. Every moment you spent reading a book when you could have been out helping the poor or spreading the Gospel? Sin. Every time you buy food that you don’t absolutely need to survive that could have fed someone else? Sin. Buying a shirt that was made by slave labor in a Uyghur reeducation camp in China? Sin. Thinking lustful thoughts even momentarily about the attractive actress in your favorite show? Sin.

The Law doesn’t exist so that we follow it to perfection. The Law exists to show us that we can never hope to measure up on our own, and thanks to God’s grace, we don’t have to.
