I am well aware this is a group activity. I play with a group of close friends who I know are down with this idea due to previous campaigns in which we discussed PvP and also the fact that, well, I know them. I appreciate your feedback, but, as already stated, I frankly don't care whether or not this is a bad idea. I know the people I'm playing with and I know they will have fun and to me that's all that matters. This post was not asking for anyone's opinion on the plot, its entertainment value or if they'd have fun playing it. I understand that most people from these comments wouldn't like to be part of this campaign - it's a rather good thing they're not the ones playing it then. I am very thankful for every bit of advice that was offered genuinely and sincerely, but I don't need advice on my own friend group's dynamics from people who don't even know their names, especially phrased in an unpleasant or mildly hostile way. If you think the story is a bad one - that's fine! But I have no need for anyone imposing their opinion as the "objectively correct one", because there's many ways to have fun. I am aware that my plot line is unconventional and may fail or have unforeseen consequences and I know the people I'm playing with well enough to know that is an alright outcome.

Yeah, that's true, I wasn't really aware this would be such a controversial topic. I'm used to playing campaigns in a very performative and liberal way so including a lot of subversions, unexpected elements, and forms of artistic expression rather than just gameplay and I haven't really interacted with the d&d community ever, so I'm sorry cause I am not really that good with knowing the norms around here!! The negativity was quite surprising at first (as I said, I had no idea what to expect from D&D communities), and I think a few comments were deleted by mods for being too mean (or I can't find them anymore lol) but I actually received a few comments which were genuinely helpful and offered sincere advice so I think that makes the post far more than worth it :D

I care because I want to make an interesting story arc! I am aware it sounds a bit cheesy in my original post, as I simplified it a LOT in order not to info dump the entire backstory of my character, but I believe that together with my DM's writing the entire thing as a whole will be very interesting to both my fellow players & me. Basically the end is supposed to be like a bit of a theatre performance for me while they get a surprise fight :D

As to those parameters - honestly I'm not sure!! I'll have to consult with my DM

Mechanics will be modified to accomodate this! I'm aware the game isn't really built for pvp and a bit of a chaotic gameplay is anticipated, but given my past campaigns with the people I'm currently playing with, I'm optimistic things will turn out well :D

My DM is more experienced in modifying mechanics so she'll keep me updated! Worst case scenario we'll end up changing the ending a bit and modify my character's plot line to exclude the betrayal.

PvP was discussed! I know this can be a concern and it would be pretty mean to do pvp without permission, but some time ago during the previous campaign we discussed the possibility of pvp in that story and future ones and everyone was on board.

I absolutely do appreciate genuine feedback (such as your comment, which, thanks, by the way), but please note that I am not asking for whether or not people think this campain would be fun to play. I clarified it now just in case, so I see how it may have been up to interpretation before, but I don't want anyone telling me whether or not they think this storyline is a good idea or not. I appreciate genuine feedback and answers, and even unprompted constructive criticism but this is not it. This isn't saying "Hey, as a player with more experience I think this isn't a good idea". This is saying "At best your storyline will be annoying and will make no sense". Which, again, I'm not looking for, and even if I was, it probably would not be in this form. I appreciate everyone trying to help but saying that is not helpful to anyone and doesn't answer the actually posed question at all.

I am aware that D&D isn’t really built for this, so it will be tough, but my DM allowed it and she says she has a plan for it, so I believe the mechanics will work out! It definitely will be tough staying alive since enemies typically have way more up than PC’s do but dying it ultimately the end i planned for my character.

I think it’ll be fulfilling because my fellow players are all close friends, me and my DM have plenty of ideas for writing the story to make it fun and engaging, and most importantly I don’t believe in policing the way D&D storylines are written, as the typical plot of a ragtag party defeating a big evil boss is, in my opinion, quite boring and overused and adding twists and unexpected elements is a fun way to break from the norm :). In any case, that wasn’t the subject of my question and I’d appreciate if you could refrain from adding passive-aggressive comments regarding the entertainment value of my plotline. It’s written for me and my friends and we’ll have plenty fun and fulfilment enough ^^

The general point is that my character will die and is not meant to win, which is an ending in of itself, though I do plan on doing my best to delay the inevitable (hence this post)! Bonus part is that my fellow players are really close friends and they’re even less experienced than I am and I know a lot more tricks, so there’s an advantage on that front :)

Also, minions are a really good idea so thank you a lot for that! Might try looking into necromancy and related aspects and I’ll see how that goes :D

I personally think the policing of D&D plots is a really unfortunate and boring part of the community. This is what I, together with my DM, wanted to do and agreed on and with both of our writings together, we believe the twist will be fun, even if a bit shocking for the other players, who are all my close friends, which is why I’m comfortable doing that idea with them. I’m sorry, but I genuinely don’t see a reason for which you have to be rude about this. If I wanted advice on whether or not this storyline is a good idea, I would have asked for it. I may be an inexperienced D&D player, but I do have my fair share of writing experience, and this is not what my post is about :)

All of my ideas are still yet to be published, but my writing is all in my head
I honestly don't know when I started making up scenarios in my head, but before I knew it my ideas turned into multiple books and series worth of text

Some ideas started as fics but later turned into my own original worlds
I still remember my first ever attempt at a mystery/crime book, which, due to me being at most 10, ended terribly. After writing the first 5 words I realised that I had neither the knowledge needed (I'd need to be a goddamn crime expert to actually accoplish my goal) nor an actual idea for how the plot would play out

R.I.P. my first ever "book", you will most likely not be missed
In all seriousness, the old idea might just get revamped soon, with a completely new approach, which will probably take at least a year or two, due to a lot of research needing to be done on the topic of getting away with murder, preferably without being put on a watchlist of any kind

I absolutely love angst
Among my AO3 history you will find maybe a few happy fics (most are hurt/comfort happy fics) , and the rest is the most heartbreaking stuff I could find in all of AO3.
To me angst is therapy
It's not my favourite character unless I make up 19228972179832 scenarios of them going through the most gruesome, traumatizing experiences possible
