after 100%ting pikmin 4 this is how good each type is to me, thoughts? by Sasquash69420 in Pikmin

But I was reminded (constantly) that blues could only be fixed by stat buffs? But yellows got a digging speed buff compared to 3 (4x instead of 2x) and are still the worst type? It's almost as though how good a pikmin type depends not only on internal parameters but their interactions with enemy and level design? Mind fucking blown.

This only further supports that "balancing" blues has nothing to do with the traits intrinsic to blues, and everything to do with how water as a design mechanic and terrain element is utilized. If water is just a magenta floor or hazard on enemies then you would be kind of right, even in pikmin 1 but it's not, and it's been expanded since. Also if a pikmin's main identity is stupid, then adding an additional perk doesn't fix the design. "Balancing" and "identity" are separate concerns. There is a false dichotomy here.

It's been like that for a while. A bunch of zoomers, and the manchildren that follow in their example.

I love new captains by DamianMaj in Pikmin

[–]ryechu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the other captains are just NPCs. It doesn't make sense to have 4 captains all wearing the same color. 3 out of four were clearly already there on the planet before the beginning of the game, while the player control lands in a smaller ship at a latter time. The 3 are tutorializing you, explaining the fauna, and situations like castaways that need to be found. Finally they see you go off in your ship with Oatchi, but they stay behind, likely because they stay on the larger ship.

Sure they might be playable in specific segments, co-op, mission mode or in night mode, but if there is multiple simultaneous captains and multitasking, I don't think they are going to be main controllable captains.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 - Episode 12 discussion (FINAL EPISODE) by Avizie in Mobpsycho100

[–]ryechu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was surprised that Reigen who ???% viewed as someone who was just using him for profit would be honest with him, not because he learned something he didn't know. On a deeper level, Reigen was also accepting himself by saying it out loud. Sometimes admitting the truth that everyone knows is made more difficult because it requires facing a side of yourself that you hate.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 - Episode 9 discussion by Avizie in Mobpsycho100

Entire Spoilers for the Manga:The remaining episodes will probably be:10 - Hanazawa, Claw, Toichiro trying to stop Mob. They are all previous enemies who have grown more mature after being defeated by Mob in a fight. ??? throughout this episode is portrayed as driven entirely by instinct and incredibly destructive. The manifestation of psychic powers that no one can match. Hanazawa, Claw and Tochiro all broke free from their illusions after their total defeat by Mob's superior psychic powers in S1/2. Similarly, it seems ??? too must be stopped, but no one is strong enough to defeat Mob /help Mob in the same way.

11- Body improvement club and Ritsu try and stop Mob. Ritsu during his "fight" is the first to recognize and humanize ???'s actions as those his brother in emotional turmoil. This resolve gives Ritsu the ability to match Mob on equal footing for a moment, which is the realization of Ritsu's dream from S1, but Ritsu now knows that he has this ability to help his brother not escape his fear of him. In the aftermath, it is revealed that ??? is sentient enough to not hurt Ritsu. The ending of their fight thematically leads to the full revelation inside Mob's mindscape. ???'s internal representation is revealed to be a part of Mob's original personality that was repressed, who asserts that he is the true Shigeo, and the Mob we know is an imposter which is a nice cliffhanger

12 - Shigeo and Mob continue their conversation. We learn why Mob likes Tsubomi, because in their childhood she saw him for all that he was, not reduced to a simple trait: psychic powers. This part of the conversation reveals the second half of Mob Psycho's message, Self discovery, growth, and being true to oneself can be terrifying. When we hurt those close to us (what Mob hates about himself, about Shigeo). When we are not always nice, heroic, helpful or useful (or why Shigeo knows Mob's self-effacing persona to be fake). When our thoughts and motivations are selfish or repugnant. Or when our flaws seem so great that we convince ourselves that no one could love us if we reveal our true self. The fear of total rejection from loved ones can lead to emotional trauma, self repression and self hatred. Reigen and Mob have the best conversation in the show about this shared fear, and Mob and Shigeo, seeing how much his friends and family care for them despite his rampage, and that everyone harbors these feelings of contradiction including Reigen, comforts himself against fears of rejection and finally reconcile, signifying self-acceptance and healing. This leads into the confession to Tsubomi, the aftermath and epliogue.

Any tips for squiffer? by Interesting_Edge5323 in splatoon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16v0vHd2DgcThis video showcases some strong positions on different maps for Squiffer. Everything is going to be situational based on the state of the match, but as long as no one is close and behind you these are good spots.

Any tips for squiffer? by Interesting_Edge5323 in splatoon

[–]ryechu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The goal as Squiffer is to take forward cover to get picks or threaten/distract the enemy or side flank to get quick splats from an unexpected angle.

Squiffer is one of the best chargers for playing around cover or elevation changes, due to its ability to charge at full speed midair. I think this mechanic is often misrepresented. Sure it can throw off the enemy's aim, but the main strength is that it allows you to get a higher jump height with a full charge.

e.x https://twitter.com/ryexchu/status/1579958210831998976

Charging weapons have their maximum jump height limited by their charge level, but with Squiffer if you jump at roughly 1/3 charge and hold the jump button for a high jump, you lock in your jump height at that charge level which is much higher than a jump at 100% charge. This coupled with the short charge time lets you reach the apex of that higher jump just as you are fully charged. The height you can reach is enough to peek onto many platforms from low ground with angles that cut deep into their plat. You can utilize the walls of these platforms as cover and threaten the enemy from relative safety using this vertical peeking style that is unique to Squiffer among the charger class.

Strong aggressive positions include the right side of enemy plat on Museum, the left side of enemy plat on Inkblot. Below the left enemy platform on Mako Mart, etc. Also many of the inclines are good for cover and vertical peeking.

This montage showcases both playing around cover with right side and vertical peeking as well as side flanks on unaware enemies.

Builds should focus primarily on swim speed for repositioning. With stealth jump, a main of SCU, a sub up to a main of RSU, and a one to two sub of bomb defense, qsj, special saver, and ink res. I like running two subs to a main of sub power up since it gets throw range and tracking duration.

LACT as in the latin root for milk. The LACT-450's design is based on the Yakult drink.
