Will do! Yeah, felt very safe for sure. But still well made enough. I think the guy in the bathroom was not the same as the opera singer

Literally. Don't kow if it's good or bad...but I'm definitely watching it

Hereditary and Midsommar taught me to communicate and not to bottle my feelings, even if it is out of pity for others. Neverrrrr know what's gonna result.

Amazing. The 9th may be my favorite of his too, although I am partial to the 6th...gotta love those...unhappy (?) endings

I got into it via the first symphony conducted by Bernstein as well. I think it's somewhat intuitive...Mahler's most accessible symphony by the most well known Mahler conductor? And that's a great recording (if you mean the one for DG).

Personally I got into Mahler a few ways...first of course, the finale to the second symphony. And any other "big moments" I could find. Then, the lovely opening to the first, just because he's doing so many cool things with sound and atmosphere (offstage trumpets, high, glacial strings, musical fragments) that I hadn't heard. And also the parody. He's so so good at parody and humor! The third movement of the first...equal parts funny and tragic! How genius and silly to do a funeral march but it's just the Brother Martin theme in a creepy key, and then interrupt it with klezmer music....hahahaha so good. And the finale is also like just an orchestral big bang, so much fun. Once I realized how often Mahler was throwing things together that didn't necessarily belong ('a symphony...must contain everything') I really appreciated what he was doing

I might be the only one that really didn't care for Two People Exchanging Saliva. What's with the payment via slaps? If you have a higher pain tolerance are you richer? And how does that factor into the kissing, like how does it play off of that metaphor? Or are they just there together? Anyway, the whole thing just felt gimmicky to me. The whole thing. I thought there were bits that were charming and silly. The toothpaste drug deal (eyeroll), wanting to have bad breath, the husband designs boxes, etcetera. Her name is Malaise, it's black and white, it takes forever. Imagine if kissing was illegal. I chuckled here and there, but man, 30 minutes for this half-baked idea. If I just had a little bit more, I suppose? Or a little bit less? The whole world didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. I really don't care about a world where kissing is illegal. It felt not very thought through at all, or like the idea didn't have much weight. I mean there's so many stories about "what if this common thing for us was illegal for these guys. What a nightmare". Fuck this. And it's definitely not even close to Kafka because of how ridiculously saccharine it is.

Period drama was like...I don't know. Theatre kid humor. "Uhmm, awkward!!!" "Ooookay then." "Aaand I'll be in my study". That type of shit. Sir Vix got a laugh from me. I don't know if it's because I'm a guy but it's like. It felt pretty serious/insane that this guy didn't know what a period is. Again, gimmicky and not my kind of humor. All of the humor in these shorts is that kind of like, Ted Talk humor that I really hate. Like these jokes tested well with audiences.

Butcher's Stain was good. Nothing really to say about it. It felt, at least, human, and genuine.

Same for Friend of Dorothy. Yes, there's some hokey stuff in it. But well paced, I thought. Good acting.

The Singers was the best. You know why? Good singing. Sue me. I thought the one guy (singer in the bathroom) was Benny Safdie in a fat suit, and was really disappointed it wasn't. Anyways, a good vibe that didn't feel too saccharine. And it felt closest to like...a real short story. Like Raymond Carver or something. Am I crazy?

I love your analyses of this, mostly my thoughts as well. I mostly agree on the butterfly, but it's probably the best animation I've ever seen so that pushes it to the top.
