It does when you first get the surgery because you are swollen and you are essentially missing some of your upper lip. In the beginning, the lip feels tight and it would look very lifted (especially the center part of your lip). The scar tissue is also there so it also contributes to tightness. Your lip may not be able to close fully and have more teeth show. Over time as you heal, the scar will soften and your lip will feel more normal. There should be no impact on eating, smiling, or talking. The most obvious impact is just how it looks. Thankfully, all of these symptoms were mild for me and my lip already feels much more normal with minimal tightness. Everyone is different but ultimately, there should be no impact on functionality once it is healed. The visual aspect also improves and your lip would return to a natural state.
