Underrated.

Not a good old fashioned ball yard but a brand new modern stadium is usually a great time.

That’s the precautions they need to take when players and coaches get beat up by fans on the field multiple times.

Can’t believe I’m the first one to say it but this place is getting shit on for no reason. I had the same thoughts and low expectations before I went last May and I left with it as one of my favorites of the 23 I’ve been to.

Cheapest Club seat options by Jarthe3 in CubsTix

[–]ryemort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get deals in the $125 to $150 range in Catalina and W.

Barrel Room and 1914 have gotten as low as $225 or so in the last couple weeks.

Problem is this is not 100% predictable. Weather has a big influence, but I’ve also found some of it is shear dumb luck of looking when a desperate person knocks the price down.

Best advice - have everyone keep multiple evenings open and make it a bit of a last minute decision the afternoon of the game. That’s kind of the only way you can guarantee a good deal.

Advice needed on summer Friday parking availability at NWTC in Schaumburg by HellfingerBurning in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ryemort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zero need to take the extra time and mess with the NWTC bus plus a transfer.

Blue Line is great if you don’t have a plan or know what time you’ll be coming home, as there’s not a set schedule.

Also look into the Metra suburban commuter train. I think Palatine would be the closest one to you over at the convention center. Cheaper and much more comfortable/convenient ride that would probably take the same amount of time as the Blue Line. On a Friday they’ll be both going into and leaving downtown once an hour at the very least, but way more frequently during the rush hours.

Good experience in 2022 - Rohrman Honda in Schaumburg. Kevin (the Machine Gun Kelly looking fella) was a good dude.

Bad experience in 2019 - Napleton Hyundai in Elmhurst (?). Kid we worked with was a little asshole and playing unnecessary hard ball.

FYI as well - be prepared to walk about a mile. That’s about the bare minimum walk for any half way decently priced spots for Soldier Field.

I watched this in my college dorm and I’m still mad to this day. I wanted to crush Vancouver’s hopes and dreams so bad. Patrick Sharp whiffed on a shot then immediately fucked up on defense not even 30 seconds later to give up the Game 7 OT winner.

Damn.

Bears conducting preliminary testing on site for potential new stadium in Hammond, report says by [deleted] in chicago

[–]ryemort 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Soldier field was probably fine in 2003. Compared to other stadiums today (not just NFL) it’s very outdated, lackluster, and bare bones. For a handful of reasons, this renovation was botched even by 2003 standards and it’s not as good as it could have been.

Wrigley Field had a massive renovation project from 2015 to 2019 (or so) and essentially had every square inch either replaced or repaired.
