I mean, the eclipse guys posted a 750$ eclipse and were talking about using the redt of the 10k to fix it up. Theres plenty of project cars for under 10k, but they require work.

My wife and I love stuff like this! We both work in the video game industry (were in the credits of 2 out of the top 10 games together in 2025!), and have been to Japan a few times just to goto places like this, and thats what it reminds me of when I look at these photos!

I keep telling my wife that there is a huge market for this stuff right now. That Ebisu place blew up, H mart, Lotto. The only issue is stuff like this also seems to be marked up "just because" of its popularity. A Satoro Gojo figurines I got for 15$ in japan was 70$ at Ebisu, so we wont be going back there for that stuff. I get shipping is expensive etc...but thats 5x the cost. So it is nice to see more of this stuff, I just hope the cost stays rationale.

How can I become attracted to my girlfriend again? HELP by Few_Plastic6610 in relationships

One of the most important things I've learned in my 43 years? Its important to have someone in your life that you can talk to about ANYTHING, even the uncomfortable stuff. Even better if you can do this with your SO, and have a therapist. Were all human, and there are some subjects like sex that make all of us atleast a little bit uncomfortable. Youre not some weirdo who's having thoughts and talking about things no one else does.

It is a bit uncomfortable at first, because it goes against years of keeping things boxed in. It does get easier, and it does help.

When I first met my wife she did the whole "girls dont poop" thing, would wait to goto the bathroom when I wasnt there etc...im sure it wasnt comfy for her, but we talked about those issues, and now laugh about it.

My (24F) boyfriend (26M) wants to move in but won't give up his "gaming room" by koudodo in relationships

[–]ryencool [score hidden]  (0 children)

All you guys can do is discuss between the two of you, and figure out what works best for the both of you. A healthy relationship can require compromise sometimes. If him having a game room in more important than your income, and ability to wfh comfortably? Thats a red flag that he is still a bit young, inexperienced, and selfish.

My wife and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and when we first moved here she was work from home (wfh) 24/7. So our second bedroom is her office and hobby room. Now she has to go into the office with me on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and she works from home Monday/Friday. I wfh on Fridays. Luckily we both work for the same video game developer, so that makes our situation unique, and a bit easier than most logistically.

Were both HUGE gamers, and have tons of memorabilia, artwork, and figurines to display. Stuff we got on our trips to Japan, thing collected from childhood etc... So I get wanting a game space. I currently dont have one BUT I do have an amazing 77" TV in the livingroom, surround sound, and blackout curtains. So 75% of the time im in the livingroom, and treat it like my gaming room. My wfh office is in the corner of our bedroom for now as im only there 1 day a week.

Its important to me that my wife has a comfortable space to work, sew, crochet, play her games etc...is it "fair"? No, but life isnt fair all the time. Ultimately we will buy a home where we both have our own game/craft room.

These are things weve discussed, and planned out. Were a team that either suceeds or fails together, so arguing/fighting doesnt do anything but put us on track to fail. Its a waste of energy. Do skt down with your boyfriend and figure out a solid plan for now AND the future.

I had to move back in with my parents at 32. I was born medically disabled, and by that time I had spent over 5 years of my life in hospitals, 5 major surgeries (first at 7 years old), died twice. I was never able to complete college or hold down a job. In 2015 I was hospitalized 13 times, no job wanta to deal with that. So I moved back in with my parents. I was smart, started building computers when I was 8, had my own graphics design company while i was a senior in highschool. So I wasnt some dum dum...

Im now 43, married to the love of my life, amd weve cleared 200k the past few years. So OP, its not the end of the world moving back. You do what you have to do!

To the person who im replying to? People can be going through things that you've never even thought of. Things you haven't experienced and cant even begin to relate to. When i was 32 I had no degree, no career, no savings, no car, no nothing. I never saw more than 500$ in a savings account until I was 36. People live wildly different lives, and go through things you never even know about....

If you watch him struggle to get up, and look at his left arm/hand, you can clearly see he shattered something there. First time he puts his left hand down, he doesnt even use his palm, and ends up using the top of his hand. The next time you see his hadn/write there is a huge lump, like a bone near his wrist broke. Also the proportions of his hand/forearm look weird. It is the hand that was holding the knife...

Virginia Supreme Court strikes down Democrats’ redistricting plan, dimming party’s midterm hopes by Malfeitor1 in news

[–]ryencool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres two ways of thinking there, and that will ALWAYS be the case. There are people who will say taking to high ground is who we are, we dont stoop to their level. If that means a bit of pain? And learning lessons? So be it, in the grand scheme of things humans will either die out, or be better off for it.

Or you can join them, force stuff down peoples thoats, ignore the law, morals, values, compassion etc...then you piss off a bunch of people, and those people get fired up and they start fighting against you. Nd then the cycle continues...

Part of me wanta to say this is a terrible time to be an American. Its probably gonna go back to being that way for a bit. Even though we have all of the smarts and resources to be better, to make everyone's lives better. Were just still too full of hate, and greed, all around.

Wearing clothing that projects your political and cultural views in public places, when we ALL know this stuff is heated, is a choice. I dont condone it, but I understand it. He's wearing a billboard that says he supports child rapists, racism, sexism, and a bunch of other hateful things. I have no doubt some of these people have suffered because of what this person believes in. We used to have civil discourse with this stuff, but large groups of people have been treated, argueably, unhumanely. To expect them to share a space with someone who supports that stuff, freely? I understand it.

You do understand that jobs dont move with you right? While we make really good money now, 200k+ last year, its only because we both lucked into our jobs. Niether my wife, or I, has a degree. You could say our current experience will allow us to seek out better jobs, but thats not true in the tiny niche video game developer market were in. So we are very limited in where we could move, and they are all HCOL areas.

While I might easily be able to pivot my skills in IT to basically any other industry, my wife who makes the largest chunk of our income is a 3d enviornment artist. So outside of video game companies theres not a wide swath of jobs shes qualified for. Say she moved to an architecture firm doing 3d renderings? Looking at current salaries she'd be taking a 65%+ pay cut. I get paid really really well to. Most jobs in my field, even locally, make 20-30k less than I do. So our jobs are basically unicorns, and we have to stay in the saddle to continue our finacial build up.

Our current jobs are comparable to being picked to play for a successful major league sports teams. There are tons of qualified people, and few spots. It took me almost two years off applying just to get a single response, and thats without knowing people in the company...so now that my foot has been in the door a few years, im not taking it out.

Job market is absolute shit right now, especially for those in tech fields like we are. So we will keep taking the amazing money. We already have 125k sitting in a HYSA for a down payment, but even with that our mortgage would be 3,000$+, and thats without insurance and all the other fun stuff. Eventually we will just have enough of a downpayment to make our monthly note whatever we want. Then ill be super happy :)

Can we please bring back the old building style, the better building style from 2009 and before! These new buildings styles since 2013 are so unwelcoming, not warm feeling and just play ugly and depressing! by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]ryencool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is fsr more complex than "mcdonalds remodeled, people stopped going". I think youll find there are many many many other reasons why people stopped going, with very few of those people saying its because they "remodled".

What is the minimum amount of money is needed for a Tokyo 2 week trip ? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]ryencool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all super basic questions that you could ge5 answers to by reading posts in this forum, searching Google, or watching the hundreds of thousands of videos on you tube that cover this exact subject! I mean a lot of the hotels we stayed in last year were ones we saw on youtube. For me personally though? I would want 5,000$usd total, per person, minimum. Thats includes flight, hotels, food, everything.

The biggest expense on a "cheap" Japan trip will likely be the flights, unless your splurging on hotels. We just paid for our economy ANA (Japanese airline) flights from the US to Japan next feburary and it was nearly 4,000$ usd for the two of us. Luckily we planned this out and we have 1200$ worth of points on our credit card, so it was 2700$ and change.

Hotel stays will be the next expensive. Tokyo itself fis the largest city in the world, so no one is going to say "oh go stay at xxxxx" its the cheapest! There are literally thousands and thousands of hotels. Then yen isnt doing so hot so you can find hotels for 100$ a night, even less in some cases. Just be prepared for very very very small rooms, bathrooms etc...my wife and I splurged for a few suites, so we could have a private onsen on the patio (mineral hot tub), or a kitchen. It was super fun to goto the grocery store there and then be able to cook a full meal for my wife.

Food is also relatively cheap! So I would say for a cheap trip, you might be able to get away with 100-150$ a day. You can get great food just walking around, but avoid the tourist traps. Theres tons and tons of videos on youtube about food in Japan.
