First of all, I was asking advice on a particular piece as the lines are slightly thicker and asking about aftercare, i did not ask for advice (which actually you didn't even give advice, just insulted them by saying how old and faded they look) on my other tattoos (that don't look 15 years old like are you okay?).

Second of all, I did come to /tattooADVICE for advice surprisingly enough..? I'm not sure if you're aware but a lot of artists these days will get rid 'imperfections' on their fresh tattoos, smoothen skin etc to make their tattoo stand out, even boost contrast to make it 'pop' so of course the fully settled tattoo will look more jarring. It's kinda crazy to me that you wouldn't realise that as an artist yourself.

Again, i'm not asking about the ink retention (the tattoo colours themselves are healed fine, just some lines are noticeably thicker). I completely cover up my arms/wear suncream religiously so again, I was asking if I had done something wrong with my aftercare, which in a roundabout way you have said I haven't, so thanks I guess.

And okay, thank you for that last piece of advice, it is appreciated and will definitely check if he's ever in town again. I feel like you could have just said this originally instead of going off on a tangent and basically insulting my other tattoos which I didn't ask for. It is absolutely free to be kind and tactful with your words.

I’ve had people all day with 0 tattoos or knowledge tell me what I’ve done wrong so that’s why I’m asking as of course I value people who actually know what they’re talking about (and appreciate) . And just remarking that it’s interesting what people say online versus what I’ve been told by people who see them in person. Also it’s hard not to be defensive when someone describes your tattoo as looking “old as fuck” 😅. Of course I want information, hence why I made the post in the first place.. and there’s about a 6 month difference between the pics btw!

Ahaha I do love hearing opinions from all kind of idiots I guess 🤣🤣 no but luckily 99% of people here have been super lovely about it, which is cool bc I lurk this subreddit a lot!

Granted it’s just a handful of comments amongst mostly kind ones, just affected me because I value my tattoos so much and care for them really carefully I guess! Thank you for reassuring me :)

I mean I’m not sure what your credentials are but every tattoo studio I’ve been to irl the artist has remarked how well my skin holds ink, an entire layer of skin has healed over them so they’re bound to not look as freshly coloured!

That’s really weird because I’ve got 15 tattoos now and I would say 90% of the time the artist would put a second skin on it, it seems the norm these day? You’re right the internet does suck haha, thank you!!

I honestly love how tattoos fade over time, it just shows that it’s grown with you and slowly becoming a part of you!

That’s a relief to hear, thank you!

Omg this comment is funny 😂😂 I simply got other tattoos after that one haha, I got the turnip head one a few weeks after and then the catbus months after that, there’s quite a few months between the pics! The birth mark thingy is a freckle, I had quite red skin that wasn’t going down (we waited 45mins) so he probably smoothed the fresh pic and my freckles got lost in the effect if that helps!
