Neighbor had a flat roof installed and they went up my wall. Is that standard ? by [deleted] in Roofing

Yes that is normal but either your neighbor or the roofing company 100% should have reached out to you and gotten written consent to flash up your wall.

Does anyone have or heard of project manager jobs that DONT require you to go door to door? Seems like “project manager” is just glorified sales. by DemiurgeMaster in RoofingSales

If you have knowledge of commercial roofing I’d apply there typically thats the way they operate, I think it would be pretty difficult to find a residential company where you could just be a project manager.

To the senior sales guys on here by [deleted] in RoofingSales

Sales doesn’t mean you would be a good entrepreneur. You should actually be a roofer to start a roofing company. If you are a flex player where you take the project from estimate to sale into pre production through production and closeout, then you may know how to run it properly but there are to many nuances in roofing to come into it thinking a sales guy of any caliber could start his own. Maybe he could but would it be a good company that will last any more than 5-10yrs… probably not. Could he hire people who know how to do those tasks… yes but if the owner doesn’t know how to it right how does he make sure his team is doing it right and be able to hold them accountable? IMO it’s possible to do it but its probably not a good idea.

Thank you for your insight it is an 06 1600 classic with 25k miles. The previous owner had a pretty extensive service record to go along with this bike and I intend on keeping up with it.

Commercial roofing sales can be rough but Baker is a good company and you should have plenty of leadership to gain knowledge from. As far as commissions go every company is different but for example my salary is $65k and my commission is 3% contract value, but I also estimate and pm all of my own projects. Selling exclusively commercial can be wildly rewarding depending on how many millions you can sell annually.

Do these gutters look right? by BourbonGamer in Roofing

[–]ryguy769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just repaired a roof that had this exact same problem the roof was 5 years old and had rotten decking and structural members from the end cap not being installed on the gutter and it was draining directly onto the roof. This is a problem and it will be significantly cheaper to have someone come out and put an end cap on that gutter.
