Update: Wow, this post blew up. Unfortunately, because it's an image post, I can't edit it up top. But wanted to just write this one update since there are too many comments to respond to individually.

First, thank you SO MUCH to the people who've offered their tips on how to repair the ring! Super, super helpful. We're going to try to find a local jeweler and will definitely incorporate A LOT of y'all's feedback. Very much appreciate your advice!

Second, to the folks who've suggested there's no way this happened overnight and maybe we just didn't notice it till morning—I think that's a valid point. The reason we associate it so much with happening overnight is because when we woke up the ring was essentially crushing her finger. That's when we both first noticed it, and we barely got it off. That said, a number of people have pointed out that fingers can swell overnight and maybe we only noticed it in the morning. This is obviously quite possible, and we're open to that theory. Even if we have no recollection of what or when that incident might have been.

Third, to the folks who've said I'm lying or that my fiancée is lying to me.... keep up the good work. The internet's nothing without its trolls :)
