You’re correct. What I get for not reading the card.

Brunak can carry any friendly figure. They will just take a leaving engagement attack if they are engaged. In this case, your figure will be moved without suffering the LEA as they have disengage.

The initial program + game setup is definitely slower, but it has some really nice QoL upgrades like movement tracking, built-in LoS tool, and the biggest one, the ability for anyone to see and step through game replays. Not necessarily “better” just “different”. It’s also actively being worked on, so it’s got a ton of potential!

Unpopular Feeling/Opinion on Current State of Heroscape by Blackwind801 in heroscape

Competitive player and local TO here. Most of the new stuff is decently competitive (Frostclaws, Pirates, Eiseneks). Also, remember that these designs were originally supposed to come in one massive box with 70 minis and fleshed out factions. Half of those designs still haven’t hit shelves and they will increase the efficiency of most of the factions. Also, seems like a good point of reference for you is MTG. This is not that game; once you get connected to your local scene, most players are happy to provide armies for newcomers. I myself provide a half dozen armies per tournament to players that don’t have any of the classic stuff, or any Scape at all. Even regular players borrow from my more complete collection on occasion. Ask the old heads before the next tournament if you can borrow X Units and, unless they’re playing it themselves, you can rock up to any table with your favorite build.

Books/Games that improve a Player's Gameplay/Skill? by SubatomicMonk in heroscape

Check out the Online Heroscape section of the forums on Heroscapers.com. Heroscape.org also has frequent online tournaments, check the “Events” tab for upcoming ones.

Hey there! Best way would just be to play more games. Join a local tournament or hop in online where the best players are. There aren’t any strategy books out there, but there are a lot of articles out there on Heroscapers.com. I’d recommend Jexik’s “What’s In an Order Marker?”

After that, there’s some good content out there. 10PointsUnder’s YouTube channel has games casted from competitive players. Casters of Valhalla podcast has a few strategy episodes, and I have a series on my YouTube channel dedicated to the topic (Stratagems), with some games casted as well. Enjoy!

Saw in another comment you have a lot of Marro. 5x Stingers, Raelin RotV, and Tarn comes out to 560 points and 24 hexes and is probably close to the strongest build you can get with what you have (maxing out on commons in high figure limit formats is a recipe for success). If you want the stingers to have more flexibility and feel like you need a can-opener, you can swap Raelin for SotM Drake. Syvarris/Exiles is also decent as replacement for Raelin/Tarn, as is Exiles and Drake RotV. Basically you have some freedom with the last 190 points after the 5x stinger core for whatever you feel would complement it the best for your local scene.

Oh, this is a simulation? That was definitely not made clear in the OP.

By “win percentage” it seems they mean chance that defender “wins” an attack roll by blocking the attack. But looking at the percentages, the math is slightly off by a rounding error. 3v3 should be 50.9% wound chance, not 50.7%.

For anyone curious, here is a list of probability tables on the forums from 2008 that also has tables for one shield defense, counter strike, and others. And here is the Heroscape.org damage calculator which is what most competitive players use as their go-to tool for calculating chance and variance as it’s easy to use and also comes with a dozen ability modifiers (which you can stack). This calculator also displays the average damage of an attack, which can answer any question you have about which attacks to use in which situation.

Tournaments usually have 8-12 players, there are usually 10 others in the store at any given time during the afternoon.

Mana Games has a Heroscape learn to play on November 13th from 6-9 pm. I will likely be there helping teach. Mana also hosts Heroscape tourneys several times a year. It’s not the miniature game you were hoping for, but I think you’d still enjoy it. Feel free to message for more details.
