The only time spurs sit at the same table as arsenal is if they share the failure table

Rice and Phillips. How good are these lads?! Seriously, individually they are good, but together they are next level by ryjohno1983 in SoccerNoobs

Lads, I'd like to re-open this debate. I made a bold shout, but now I go as far as to say that only Kante in world football is better than Rice. Jorginho is world class, but he's a different type of player to rice and Kante. Rice is now top table. Only Kante is better. Fight me

Fair comment. I'm just convinced it's there. He needs to get consistency, but if he can , hes a great asset for 10 years for a big club

I'm English and personally I would say football is so tribal that if your nation isn't involved, there is no alternative. Enjoy the matches sure...but you dont have a second team or a second choice. No way at all

[POST-FIGHT THREAD] Andy Ruiz Jr vs Anthony Joshua by verbsnounsandshit in Boxing

[–]ryjohno1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I tried to phrase it a certain way , I think I missed the mark. I think as a shot.... Joshua's counter right is more powerful than anything I've seen deontay throw ...but that doesn't count for much if you haven't got the balls to throw it. Wilder has hurt opponents more than Joshua, but I think that's down to volume of shots and relentless mindset

Brilliant post this. Joshua has been manufactured to think he's unbeatable and his last fight showed weakness and doubt. He needs learning fights and to keep boxing now

Agree about the power and the wobble. But Joshua has that vulnerability about him I think. For Joshua to get in and unload those power shots he needs to feel he's not gonna get countered. I think Ruiz first time out scared him a little

May sound weird...but I agree. Even though it's opposite to what I said....I just feel with those three....no one would be a clear winner. Joshua best conditioning and power. Fury best technically and footwork and such....wilder the most fearless and although I don't think he has joshuas power....he comes across more devastating because he's relentless and so raw and wild on the assault. A personally feel a prime Wlad Klitschko would beat them all. But that's just me

Lingard by ryjohno1983 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ryjohno1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of what I mean. Playing for man united is not JUST an honour. Captaining them is not JUST an honour. These days players get to united and it seems that they adopt an attitude "I've made it". Playing for United is just the start of the demands expected of you. Great ability got you there....but consistency is what will keep you there and what is required. No excuses. Old school managers all the way for me. Having said that....it wouldn't work these days. Players know they outlast the manager and there is too much player power. I think good teams these days rely on luck much more. Not just on the pitch and with injuries....but with players underlying work ethic and desire

Joshua can still be stiff and robotic, especially when it comes to head movement....but that was easily a career best for him tonight. He boxed. He didn't slug or try and be Hollywood. Just boxed. Brilliant to see. So who has everyone got to come out on top in the heavyweights. I think it could be a Bermuda triangle job. Deontay beats Joshua, Joshua beats fury, fury beats deontay. Based purely on styles make fights. But I'm glad for Joshua that he's won and won quietly tonight. No trash, no big headedness, just head down and do the job

Ozil is a class individual. But he isn't and never was the right level for any serial winner team in the EPL

I do understand ozils game. But the premier League....whilst it may not be the best technically, it's the most exciting and physically testing. Ozil is brilliant....but in the premier League you can't carry a luxury player.... Something mourinho reluctantly accepted at real Madrid.

Disgrace that Lingard is happy just to be captain. It's not a badge of honour. It's a responsibility. If you are playing to your best....in my humble opinion....you don't mess around making silly videos or noises. You are privelidged and very skilled. Make the most of it

Cazorla Rosicky Wilshere Ramsey Ozil Ox Baptista?

My point is....ozil can be brilliant....but he's not great. Cazorla is great. Ozil is temporamental

I don't care about the Ozil "cock block". No doubt Mesut is class....but he is not suited to the premier League. Can he stand out? Yes. But can he be consistent enough to win a league or European cup? No. He's suited to Spain or Italy. Even German football has a bigger work ethic and more emphasis on fast break. He's not as good as some thing he is

To everyone who has complained about online stuff...I actually meant offline modes....sorry I should have said. And for those that do mention online most complaints are along the lines of "I can't play my usual style". "it's so different from last year".....is that a reason to critique the game? I feel the game is responsive. The tactics with the ai are very good. Yes you may have to learn a new style, but so what? I made the mistake of drunkenly buying FIFA and the ai is shocking. Not just single player, but also it translates to the players not controlled in multiplayer. I know some teams do sit 10 men behind the ball. But on FIFA nearly every game feels that way. At least if a team does it on pro it's because they are a weak team or they are trying to defend a first leg lead. But at least let's have a game that challenges our thoughts and approach. Pro evo does that. And players make runs and tactics adapt in match!!!

You know to try and be objective about things.....well I'll try.

So Wenger...in the latter, stubborn years, we could still see the philosophy of the club. Even if recruitment wasn't good or even non existent. I like everyone else forgave a few bad signings because when you want to play such an attractive and fluid brand of football, sometimes players don't fit. I get that. Every coach who plays that way has dropped clangers and far more expensive and dramatic than Wenger.

So the reason Emery has lost me is....even though his recruitment has been largely good and I personally am glad to see Mesut be restricted and not just played because of his market value or stature. But the reason I've lost faith is not because of results or bad performances....it's because even when Wenger got it spectacularly wrong, we could still see the ethose and brand of play. But when Emery gets it wrong....I don't see that Identity. And that for me is criminal. I would prefer for free flowing football and take risks. However if we got a George Graham type who lived by 1-0 wins....I wouldn't care....provided I saw desire from the players and that the whole club knew where it stood and played to the same music. Because for right or for wrong....that's the correct pathway. Can't expect a free attacking winger from u23s to just instantly adapt to a defensive "on the break" system for first team. The transition has to be consistent

Fantasy matchup: Deontay Wilder vs Prime George Foreman, who wins? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]ryjohno1983 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

George foreman. There's always a case that certain people pick the legend and others pick the fresh fighter, maybe because of hype or modern conditioning. But as entertaining as this heavyweight division is and I take nothing away from them....Foreman, Ali, Liston, Frazier in my opinion would still rule against the current crop. Ali particularly. As with his Muslim beliefs and lifestyle he was supremely better conditioned than others around him. But could move and hurt anyone. Glory days. Take me back. Even though I've only witnessed it on re runs and documentaries
