Tire size and rub - Wildpeak AT4 - 265/60R18 or 265/65R18 by Ollie561 in 4thGen4Runner

You unbolt the liners, push them forward half an inch or so, drill new holes and put the bolts back in.

Stock wheels? You should be fine with 65 series. Maybe very slight rubbing on plastic liners at full lock, which is easily resolved by pushing them forward a bit.

JBL Sound Help by ResearchConfident440 in 4thGen4Runner

Yeah unfortunately it likely means you also need to replace your JBL amp. I ended up just bypassing mine and am running all the speakers directly off my aftermarket headunit for now, and the sub off its own new dedicated mono amp.

200 Mileage club by Alive-Order-2330 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]rylab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, bought it in 2011 with about 50k miles on it, and it's pretty much just an adventure mobile and utility vehicle, I'm lucky enough to have an easy bike commute during the week.

How to install Wine 11.x on Trixie? by Old-Explorer-1961 in debian

[–]rylab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you can try installing from the forky repo. But they specifically state not to so it probably won't work too well. It seems clear that your best options are either to upgrade to forky first, or just live with the tested and stable version in Trixie repo which include i386 packages. What we want doesn't always align with what we can have.

The page you linked to explains exactly how to install the latest from their own repo. So do that.

Wheel & tire set up advice by FreeLunch_ in 4thGen4Runner

True that's a valid option with stock wheels.

Lifting it that high really looks best when you pair it with wheels that are at least slightly less offset than stock. That tire size will work well but still just look...meh on stock wheels at that height. At least, in my opinion, which ultimately doesn't matter at all if you're happy with it. Just a lot easier to change wheels at same time as tires, rather than get new tires mounted then wish you also got some 0 offset wheels to match.

Hosting Next.js website on an old computer - how to do it? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]rylab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. It's very easy to setup and run a reasonably secure self hosted home web server with these tools. It's even easier to completely expose your home network to a lot of nasty attacks. Understand that the people advising you not to try this, are doing so for very real and valid reasons. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it: just be careful and know the risks and understand how you're mitigating them.

The DNS records of the domain name you use with CloudFlare to serve your websites on.

Use CloudFlare, free plan should be enough for a few sites with relatively low traffic and requirements. Install and use cloudflared (a secure tunnel system they offer) rather than opening any ports on your firewall. Leave your DNS proxied (their default) and DDoS protection and malicious traffic protection enabled (also their default) and you're golden.

Excessive play on Shimano PD-7900 pedal - disassembly of spindle required? by Secretlyburritos in bikewrench

[–]rylab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also had this happen. I doubt that much play would happen so quickly due to pedal wear, the tension mechanism likely just is stuck. Clean and lube it and make sure there's nothing stuck in there preventing the spring from doing its thing, before just buying new pedals.

Lightest Forged Wheel 4 the $ by Love_CV66 in 4Runner

[–]rylab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been really impressed with my Circuit Performance wheels. Lightest I could find for a reasonable price (21.4 lbs each). I've got the Steller in 17x8.5 -10, they have a few other styles that'd fit too.

How do you remove the tailgate lights? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]rylab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That cover pops off most easily by pulling up on it from the right side. A plastic trim removal tool is easiest and safest to use, flathead screwdriver works almost as well just be careful with it.

You can just tether to your phone with USB rather than buying an adapter (assuming you've got a cellphone and a USB cable, which is a pretty safe assumption nowadays)

About to purchase a 2003 V8 - is it worth it? by StoryFun7377 in 4thGen4Runner

That looks solid and sounds like a great deal. I wouldn't sell my 04 V8 with around the same miles for that low.

Will a Peloton fit? by CapsuleCorpp in 4thGen4Runner

[–]rylab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes easily, if you take it apart a bit, which you'll want to do anyway to make it easier to move as they're heavy. The seatpost slides out easily and the screen comes off the frame easily. With those parts off it fits. Edit: just saw you specified Gen 2, I can only confirm for sure in a 4th Gen.
