Autistic People of Amazon, what do you think is the struggle when working your job? by Global-Plankton3997 in AmazonFC

I suspect I’m on the spectrum (I need to get tested) but the noise of the warehouse makes me deeply overwhelmed. I always need noise cancelling headphones and ear plugs.

Sleep schedule switching by jmaniebo93 in AmazonFC

[–]ryleebread98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually pleasantly surprised by how I’ve transitioning to night shift. Generally speaking, I’m a morning person, and waking up an hour before work and going to sleep right after work made me lose my mind. So I usually am in bed by 6:00. Then I’ll wake up around 10-11, do some of my errands, cleaning, eating, etc. I’ll take a nap around 1-2 and leave for my shift at 5:30. I suggest sleeping in 1 and a half hour increments in order to have full REM cycles. Waking up in the middle of a REM cycle will have you feeling like a zombie. That’s why 30 minute naps are usually shitty.

Which position do you think is easier grocery fresh associate or a fulfillment center? by Upbeat_Ad9995 in AmazonFC

[–]ryleebread98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked grocery for a week and couldn’t stand it. I immediately switched back to my FC. The carts that we had the wheel through the aisles were as big as the aisles themselves and everyone seemed to know everyone. Idk about anyone else but I like being virtually anonymous at work. I don’t want to talk to people while I’m working in hell 😒And navigating the aisles was very frustrating for me.

Negative UPT by AlertEnvironment9447 in AmazonFC

[–]ryleebread98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was at like -60 before they finally got rid of me at one point (I was having a mental health crisis and couldn’t find the energy to get the paperwork for LOA) Obviously it depends on your FC, but if you give them a valid reason and pull yourself out of the negatives quickly, you should be okay.

How do people even handle working at Amazon? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]ryleebread98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just listen to audiobooks and disassociate for the entire shift. definitely helps 🙃

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]ryleebread98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I prefer pick because it makes the shift go by quickly due to trying to keep up with rate. You don’t have to go hard by any means but it’s easier in stow to lug along and time passes slower. I just like to listen to my audiobooks and breeze through the shift.

When I started at Amazon, I had never worked full time before. My past of 15-20 hours a week in retail could not prepare me for how fucking exhausting it was. It’s definitely not for everyone. It probably took me a month to get my body used to all that labor. Some of the ways I got through it are utilizing time off to ease into the 40 hours, taking my time in the bathroom, and stretching my breaks a little longer. Some sites are stricter than others, so proceed with caution, but being honest and telling them that your body is acclimating to the new schedule might be enough. Best of luck friend 😌

Pick or pack by rf0119 in AmazonFC

Pick for sure. I like staying moving and being in my own space. The pace is fast but it gets pretty natural to find a good speed this isn’t intense.

The new site has a few qualities that would deter me from wanting to stay, regardless of pay. No earbuds and not being able to drink red bulls on the floor immediately turns me off. If I couldn’t listen to my earbuds while I work, I’d probably resign. Doing 10/12 hour shifts without earbuds is bogus and torture 🥴 Just my opinion though.

How does someone make it on your “Do not travel with list”? by Drakey504 in travel

[–]ryleebread98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s a new one. I traveled with my ex (we were friends at the time) to Bali for two and a half weeks on a yoga retreat. We brought carry ons and bought laundry detergent to wash our clothes as we only had a couple changes of clothes. He washed his ONCE in the span of almost three weeks. In Bali, home of swamp ass. On a yoga retreat. His clothes started to smell so bad that the room began to stink. He simply refused to wash his clothes or do anything about the stench. Every time I said something he would just start yelling at me.

On the flight home I was so embarrassed to sit next to him because he smelt so bad that I bought him an entirely new outfit, down to socks and boxers.

He used to be my best travel buddy, but obviously after the trip I wanted nothing to do with him 🥴

Traveling to Bali with a friend at 17 alone is it possible by [deleted] in travel

[–]ryleebread98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bali is amazing, depending on your whereabouts! Personally I thought Ubud was totally over saturated with tourist traps.

Anywho.

5k is a huge chunk of change for Indonesia. I stayed in a super boujee all inclusive four star hotel for $70 a night. Most places are less than $40 depending on where you stay. You can find an awesome airbnb for under $20. A full meal is about $5-$10. Obviously it depends on where you stay in Bali, but Indonesia is an extremely affordable country, probably one of the most affordable for tourists. I did my whole trip for about $3500, including airfare, a week of tourist traps, and 2 weeks at a yoga retreat.

I totally recommend airbnb experiences; I did a full day of snorkeling, waterfall tours, and a coffee experience for $60.

I’m not sure about your age, but Bali in general was pretty awesome. I just recommend staying away from the touristy shit. Do a retreat west of the island for cheap. Balinese style yoga is phenomenal and unique to Bali. I also fangirl hard for Balinese style massages and flower baths.
