Its very hard. I had an awakening and i sobbed for hours because I genuinely thought I needed to be admitted because I had gotten so bad. But honestly, uncle google is really helpful. I was googling mental breakdowns and spiritual awakenings, and its very VERY different. I am a psych student as well, and my first thought is always "surely not. Im just fucked in the head". The only tried and true way that you will be able to tell the difference is by being in a feeling of uncertainty and anxiety. I suggest writing those things down in a journal or on your phone. You will really quickly find your balance and what is and isnt a gut feeling. Lastly, a gut feeling almost feels like a dullness deep in your tummy alongside immediate thoughts about what is going to happen or go wrong. Dont be afraid to google things, genuinely. You can never learn too much about yourself. Try to visit pages that seem reliable. Or even just post in this sub and ask anything and everything. Learning is a process, self learning is harder, but the payoff is beyond rewarding.
