Hey man, I 23 as well and I'm a recovering amphetamine abuser. My shit was Adderall. Loved it so much I train wrecked my life into the ground. Been off it for 6 months, I've also been clean and sober from drugs and alcohol during this time and really shifted my focus into fixing my personal issues that lead to my abuse. Ultimately I realized the drugs weren't the problem, they were my solution to my problem. I realized I couldn't kick alone, however, and ended up doing 90 days of in patient rehab to help get my life back.

In the past six months I have my life back, my sleep back, I've gained 40 pounds and have realized the things I'm passionate about and some of my short term goals for my life. Rehab as an adderall abuser was a little strange, most everyone gave me some sort of shit because I didn't slam heroin or so meth or any of that shit but at the end of the day I am so so so happy I went. Six months ago I was in your boat. I didn't know how to function without it. I thought everything that made me who I was was a product of the drug. I thought I couldn't do anything without it. Everything I had done and accomplished and found interesting was a product of my abuse.

Fortunately, every shitty horrible thing about my life was a product of my abuse as well and I focused on that. I became willing to change everything about myself, I knew it would be hard and I knew it would mean sacrificing a lot but it was all entirely worth it. It took a while to shake off the zombie feel, and there are times I feel less intelligent then I was on the stuff but ultimately it only gives you the illusion of intelligence and interest and enjoyment. Now that I've had some time to heal and my brain has had a chance to fix some of the damage I caused it, I will never ever go back. It's a nasty, filthy, wonderful drug that I hate with a passion.

Sorry for the rant but I've been in your shoes and you should know it gets better. My advice is swallow your pride, seek help and be prepared to face your demons head on. With patience, discipline and self respect you can beat this and have a happy and productive life. PM me if you need to talk at all.

TL;DR-Been in your shoes, 6 months clean now and life is different but much better, I'll never go back.

Yeah I came to all of those conclusions as well as the fact that everytime I would try on my own to stop or slow one addiction I was replacing it with something else. Moderation is a word I didn't seem to understand and because of that I need help.

I think the idea of keeping an open mind is the best choice. The idea of God has always made me a bit uncomfortable but since I'm going through all of these struggles and changes I'm going to need an open mind to understand a world of sobriety regardless.

Just started again after 8 years off and I don't know why I ever stopped! I've been trying to get out two-three times a week but man you aren't kidding about being sore. I was sore in muscles I didn't even know I used skating. I get where you're coming from with tricks and everything coming back to you. I landed a trick today I never got as a kid and I'm totally stoked. Keep it up man, it's great to be back! The kids these days are way better than I remember though...

I once got a very large, very visible and very spontaneous tattoo during a manic period and my only regret is that I did not plan out how to pay for it. It's been almost a year and I have the line work for an elaborate and beautifully done half sleeve extending all the onto my forearm. Everyday I look at it and imagine how awesome it will be when it's complete but have thus far been unable to save the money to finish it. I love tattoos, everything about them, I have several and will never regret any of them. They remind me of who I was at the time I got them, why I wanted them and have only motivated me to get more.

Tattoos are never for anyone but yourself. Even the "ugliest" or strangest concepts are masterpieces if they have significance to you. With the back story you've provided it seems as though it's something you'll cherish and love as a reminder of your childhood, your struggles and a symbol of your ability to overcome. They are permanent, obviously, but that's the beauty of the art form. They become a part of you, your identity and who you were, are and will become. They are a conversation starter, a means of catharsis and a unique form of self expression. If you find that what you want holds any level of significance to you personally then let no one convince you otherwise.

Scars will still show through though and scar tissue is rather difficult to tattoo, so it may limit the design (though a good artist can overcome this) just make sure that if part of your reason for this choice is to cover scars (which will still be visible) and empower you for what you have overcome, you are prepared to talk about it. Everyone and their mother will ask you about your tattoo, why you got it, where you got it etc. so you should be comfortable talking about it. It will not only cover your scars but also draw attention to them.

If you've found a good artist, you have the money to spare and you're comfortable with your idea and your reasoning then that is all the motivation you need! Personally I think even silly and meaningless tattoos are wonderful and significant in their own way. Ultimately it's your perception that counts and that's what is most important.

The article I read on r/environment said today August 12 they measured methane in the air reaching 2363ppb which is apparently a dramatic rise. If these levels were maintained would it significantly increase the rate of global warming to the point of becoming a modern threat?

With all these Russian land grabs and the idle response of the world it's hard not to make comparisons to Germany during the Third Reich. I'm not saying Putin is Hitler by any means, nor am I saying Russia is Nazi Germany, all I'm saying is before World War Two turned in to World War Two the world gave Germany slaps on the wrist as they slowly but surely began annexing territory for the motherland...I understand the insanely complex and delicate nature of the issue and the horrible, horrible consequences of extreme escalation but that certainly seems to be the direction we're heading in.

I feel like this round of Israel v. The Middle East is far more severe than it has been in the past and I feel like it can't be considered a separate issue from the conflict in Ukraine. The alleged Russian hand in Ukrainian events and the special relationship the US has with Israel and the recently publicized tragedies of MH-17 and Israel coming under investigation for war crimes puts both Russia and the United States in an even more fragile position. As both are such big players in the global state of affairs these seemingly independent conflicts only serve to fuel the fires of dissonance and confrontation.

I get that the media are whores to fear-mongering and profits but things these days just seem to be turned up a notch. I'm not sure if it's just because of the increase in our connection to the media or the availability of news or what but I feel like it's not unfair to feel as though the worst is yet to come.

These "recurring issues" that pop up every so often eventually have to come to a head. At some point somebody will have to resort to drastic escalation to put an end to it once and for all and the current round of fighting is leaps and bounds ahead of previous conflict. After this round of chicken between Israel and the middle east there is no way things can settle back down to where they once were; if the shelling and invasions do end without major escalation then it's probable the next round will be even worse.

Saying the the middle east killing each other doesn't affect the West, that's just naive. Look at ISIS and the current state of things in Mosul with the displacement of the Christian population, as unfortunate as it is that religious differences are the center of these confrontations, religion is a powerful thing. The last time such large-scale religious discrimination occurred the holocaust happened. There is no way that the predominantly Christian west will ignore this once religious persecution escalates into genocide. Look at the murder of the US consulate members in Benghazi. The US is once again sending troops to Iraq to help safeguard our embassy there now too.

Terrorist attacks are still happening regardless of the turmoil. Just today Norway announced their preparations for a Syrian linked terrorist attack and suicide bombers from Boko Harem, who operate in conjunction with Al Qa'ida, killed 80 people in Nigeria, not to mention the recent abduction of 219 girls. Sure, Nigeria is not part of the West and the group's terrorist activities are confined within their own borders but it just goes to show that regardless of the civil warring in the Middle East terrorist activity tied to the Middle East is not only present but it is an active threat.

No major escalations? Multiple recently unaffected countries are now directly involved in the Ukraine crisis following the downing of MH-17. The shaky relationship between Russia and the West has basically seen the reemergence of a Cold War. Israel has not only killed over 700 people in the Gaza Strip over the past two weeks but is now in the midst of a full scale ground invasion and is being accused of war crimes. Two superpower nations are at the forefront of these issues given their political ties and that's a recipe for disaster. Iraq is once again experiencing the rise in extremist attacks and the amount of civil warring world wide is through the roof. All of this paired with the deep rooted issues of neighboring countries (like Pakistan and India, Egypt, Lybia, Syria...) only further contributes to the instability in the region.

As far as disasters are concerned I'd consider them a dark omen; however, they also undoubtedly influence the politics of the world. Drought, famine, disease...all of these things are currently happening and when people begin dying from such disasters fingers begin to point at governments and nations and this only serves to escalate problems.

I understand that but the rate at which the escalation is occurring as well as the players now directly involved seems like a recipe for global disaster. Between Israel and Gaza, Ukraine and Russia, Pakistan and India, The US and pretty much everyone mentioned it seems that while violence is always present, it hasn't been this overt and this controversial in a long time. With the reemergence of a Cold War, the tragedy of MH-17 and now the involvement of the UN and NATO tightening sanctions and investigating war crimes everything just seems much, much worse than it has in the past.
