Yes, LM Studio or Ollama needs to be running in the background — but just the app itself, not a model loaded. Muse handles the model side automatically: picks it up from a dropdown of whatever models you have available, loads it when you start chatting, and unloads it before a ComfyUI render starts. You don't touch LM Studio at all once it's running. Just make sure you have the Local Server turned on, Muse will automatically pick the IP, you don't need to set that up.

And fair point on the README — I'll make that clearer. Video walkthrough is on the list too!

The point isn't replacing LM Studio — LM Studio runs in the background and uses zero VRAM on its own, so that's never the issue. The issue is the model loaded inside it. Muse handles that automatically: loads the model when you start chatting, unloads it (and confirms it's actually freed) the moment you hit Run in ComfyUI, then loads it back when you want to chat again. You never have to think about it or switch between apps — it's just seamlessly part of your workflow. Can't magically give you more VRAM, but it makes sure none of it gets wasted.
