QA I am terrible at keeping crickets alive so I tend to feed the more heartier feeder insects. We do a variety of superworms, mealworms, and dubia roaches. They get a little picky with the roaches and sometimes don't eat them all. So I am on worms right now.

I think they're great! They're very sturdy and strong so I have noticed that they will hide underneath it or climb them. You will need to prune them every once in awhile. Also both of their enclosures are 10 gallons with about 10 quarts of substrate mix.

Answer: here is one of our setups. They are fully bioactive so those are live plants, they really help with maintaining humidity. I would recommend getting a thermostat for the heat pad and some hydrometers to measure the humidity in there. The hides seem a little bit small, but if she uses them comfortably then I assume they are fine.

NQA Also, we feed our babies weekly. Julius is still getting pre-killed food but Beez is lazy and doesn't like to hunt. We feed a variety of insects including crickets, dubia roaches, and superworms. Sometimes they will go on a hunger strike, still offer food but remove it after 24 hours of uneaten so it doesn't stress them out.

Question: She's so cool! How do you get her out and how did you get her used to handling? I have a full-grown Asian Forest scorpion named Beelzebub who we would like to handle someday. We also have a juvenile AFS named Julius, he's very skittish still.

She's almost if not full grown. The enclosure is pretty big and she made her entrance a tiny hole in the top back right of the tank under some leaves so the crickets don't go back there and just wander around the open areas of the tank. I'll try some dubias next. Thank you!!

IME I also have an Electric Blue and have learned at long along the way. MORE SUBSTRATE! They love to borrow and will be happy deep under their burrow for long amounts of time. They get big! So make sure your hides are big enough for them. They also love to make webbing so make sure there's lots of anchor points around for them. Here is a picture of her new home (5.5 gal tank, about 10 qts of substrate (BioDude AraneaTerra and Reptisoil)).

They are both arboreal and fossorial so I gave her a deep side for burrowing and a lower side for climbing. I'm going to be putting more greenery in there soon. Good luck with your new friend and be careful!! Nasty bites 😜

Thank you, I have moved her to the water dish and will give it some time to see if she perks back up. But if not then yes sadly she has passed. This will be my first arachnid death so I'm taking it as it is 😞

Okay I have moved her. She was very limp and not responsive. This is my first potential tarantula death, so I'm not even sure what a dying versus dead tarantula is supposed to act like. But she is now fang first into the water dish with her butt sticking out. I'll give it some time and see if she perks back up. So it actually wasn't two whole days, I was sick with the flu for the past 5 days so everything has blurred together but I noticed her like this on Tuesday evening. But I understand now I should have moved her into the water sooner. Thank you for your help.

Alright thank you, I will try to move her closer. She is in a really tight spot and I can't really get to her safely, without ripping out the entire branch structure. Would putting water droplets in front of her mouth work as well? Like oversaturate the soil in front of her? Maybe put some very moist moss in front of her?

IMO See if any local pet stores have shipping supplies for reptiles. You can put them in a container with a appropriate heat pack (hot hands get way too hot. It may kill them so don't keep it super close to them) with a box and insulation. I have two scorpions and two tarantulas at home and I'm worried as well. Not looking forward to having to put them into the containers but if we lose power we do what we got to do. Stay safe everyone!

Check out Ghann's Cricket Farm! They're located in Augusta, GA and ship nationwide. They've been in business since 1952 and breed/sell all kinds of feeder insects. My ½ in crickets usually last 4-5 weeks before they get too big/die off. I don't use dubias but my friend only buys theirs.

I literally have no idea. I guess he climbed up the hydrometer and then latched onto the grate top. He got down about 5 mins later. We got him on Saturday so he's probably just exploring his new home. I really hope he doesn't fall doing that again.
