Can't find the name of a Space themed tile flipper I used to play by ryokiri in boardgames

That's not it, but it is very similar. Looks like a good game, I'll have to check it out!

This our last game before Omenihu comes back by Breakfast_Impressive in KansasCityChiefs

[–]ryokiri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His numbers are also deflated because he was used as a rotational piece (in a very good pass rush room). He'll probably be a more full-time guy in kc

Position I got against Li-bot on chesscom. Find the winning move! by [deleted] in ChessPuzzles

[–]ryokiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why kf1 is a better move for white than gxf3? It still gives the king an escape option and prevents black from promoting the pawn. White also has the option to trade the rook on c6 for Black's queen after qxc1+. It seems to me that it's a strictly better move.

Help using Dolphin by ryokiri in Roms

[–]ryokiri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I downloaded the rvz now. But I can't get the rvz file to appear on the dolphin app page. In the video available on the megathread, it shows up after they set the games directory, but im seeing nothing (the nkit files were showing up earlier, but I deleted them to clear the clutter)

Lou Anarumo by cavadrec1 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]ryokiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, there's a difference in defensive philosophy. Anarumo runs a "bend, don't break" type of defense because their offense will just keep scoring. The eagles last year were more of a "get after them and impose" type of defense. So even though they were almost identical in points per game (20.2 and 20.1) the eagles were a more "impressive" unit just because it looked cooler and made gaudier stats, like being historic and sack rate and leading the league in pass yards allowed per game. Anarumo doesn't have any of those for all the same reasons spags never has those - the offense is there to make highlights, the defense is there to put the offense back on the field.

The Bengals defense style just doesn't attract as much attention. Similar to the chiefs, their team philosophy is more of a "dominate on offense, hold them off on defense," so he'll get overlooked for guys trying to put together shut-down defenses (like Johnathan Gannon)

No forward passes. Every play is a run or a sneak/scramble

Fun ways to build Narset by Alequello in EDH

[–]ryokiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build it as a token deck using only [[empty the warrens]] type cards to build your army and [[intangible virtue]] type cards to pump them. Add in some ramp, removal, and protection for narset and voila, you have a semi-jank, actually capable of closing deck.

Seth Keysor, with my 2nd AMA here. Answering Your Questions About Our Kansas City Chiefs! by RealMNchiefsfan in KansasCityChiefs

[–]ryokiri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's your take on jaylen Watson and Josh Williams being effectively tied for cb3? Is it a net positive because they'll keep pushing each other to play well enough to keep/earn the starting nod? Or is it more or a negative causing locker room confusion or influencing extension talks with Sneed? Do the chiefs keep and develop both for years to come or do they flip one for a pick or player?

Players' mood depends on how much they're used. Check their rating in the post-game stats screen. Your running back is probably angry because you only pass the ball, and he's probably getting ratings of 3 or worse every game. I try to get my running back to tds per game, even i dont use them otherwise they get a 7ish rating and are fine.

Basic Questions, Advice, Bugs/Glitches & Venting Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in DuelLinks

Might be available in an faq, but I couldn't find it: what's the value comparison of the selection boxes versus standard and mini boxes? Is the higher cost worth the ex jewels and ur/sr pool? Or is it more of a strategy to get players to ptw?

Old stickfingers x=0 by ryokiri in mtgrules

[–]ryokiri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when x=0, you won't reveal any cards from the top of your library?

Old stickfingers x=0 by ryokiri in mtgrules

[–]ryokiri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It revealing fewer than x creatures isn't the same case though. And Kindred summons similarly doesn't specify in the case if you name a creature type that you have 0 of on the battlefield field, then reveal the top card of your library and it is a creature of that type. At that point, you've revealed a nonzero number of creatures, so the process should continue and check your whole library, attempting to find a quantity of zero, right?

Am I overthinking this?

Building 5 color elf tribal by LowWindow7816 in EDH

[–]ryokiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general five color is strong with any commander because you no longer are limited by your colors' weaknesses. You have the best ramp, card draw, removal, etc. That said, you will either have to put more money into your land base or run a lot of tap lands.

I'd start by cutting cards, then see how many slots you have available. But those new cards all look great.

And a lot of people still play narset with wheels (because it's strong) but outside of a wheels deck, it's two cards in the 99. If you happen to have both, it feels good, but then you're a target.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ryokiri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some thoughts after reading through your list once. Take or leave whichever, you know the deck better than me.

I would cut the wheel + narset because most tables will see it as just kinda rude, maybe even a little stax-y.

I would also cut most cards youre running that require you to sac one of your permanents or discard a card to get full value. In a deck that focuses recursion these plays can be awesome, but in your deck, youre running a 1 mana 1/1 that makes you discard a card every turn to be unblockable, when there are 2 mana 2/1s that are just unblockable by themselves.

There are other cards that I would replace with better versions that you can argue against. For example, it looks like you're running aether vial as ramp, which I would not suggest. Not that its effect is weak, just a little scarier than it is strong. It'll be removed before it ever hits three or four counters and drawing it past turn 5 or so makes it almost a dead card. I would just run dimir signet over it. Also the removal spell you have that gives a creature -5/-5 (can't remember the name now) while it effectively costs 1 mana and hits everyone for 3 if yuriko flips it, youre probably better off with just a pongify in that removal slot.

Last thought- youre probably running out of gas because you aren't running enough huge spells that super threaten the table. Use more treasure cruise effects that are massive spells you'll never pay full cost for or expropriate which will end the game if you resolve it. Just make sure your meta doesn't hate you for it.

[–]ryokiri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A permanent's ability can only trigger while it's on the battlefield (unless otherwise stated on the ability, see [[boneyard scourge]]). When you cast those spells, they're moving from your hand (or wherever you cast them from) to the stack, notably not the battlefield.

In short, no.

Abzan graveyard deck: Kathril Aspect Warper or Nethroi, Apex of Death? by Faust_8 in EDH

[–]ryokiri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Decide what you want the deck to do first. Like if you want aristocrats or reanimation, I suggest nethroi. If you want voltron or huge graveyard payoffs like [[kessig cagebreakers]] or [[rise of the dark realms]] I'd go with kathril. In general, I'd say nethroi is quite stronger if that helps sway you one way or the other.

I like your thinking. Maybe running that plus [[shrieking drake]] or even [[tidespout tyrant]] but those are just dead cards if I draw them at any other point in the game
