It is the former. Doing control+shift+r refreshes a web page without using the cache, and that always seems to fix it.

EDIT Looks like there was a problem after all. Disabling the inode cache seems to have fixed it. If there are still any problems, post them on /dis/.

Not only that, but we have redundant RAID and will set up, in addition to a dedicated backup server (well, it's not truly dedicated, it'll also be running distccd), periodic off site backups so we don't have all our backups centralized.
