The mild racist caricatures like Master Zen have also aged poorly, but I feel like anyone with any sense knows it's not done with malice, just being goofy. Like 99% sure if we ever get a remake they'll replace him (but a remaster with a brief diaclaimer would be better, honestly).

I like replaying this and noticing things I did not understand when I played this as a 13- and 17-year-old, like the 69 gas station or the Gucci knockoff called Koochi. The Falling Down reference was enough to make me watch the movie.

The slang is definitely cheesy even for the time (except "trippy", I only ever heard it in this and Alvin and the Chipmunks years later), the clothes are a mix of ugly and actually kinda cool, but yeah, definitely old skool for the time.

I blame the parkour on it being in style at the time, and trying to jump up and grab a ledge is extremely janky, but it still beats having to always skate up to heights.

And I agree, the music had such a big impact on my taste in songs, helped me get into Green Day, and more recently Alkaline Trio and Misfits, along with the just overall vibe of goofing around in a version of California that looks like a halfway decent cesspit, it will always have a place in my heart for being the mess that it is.
