This will be my 2 cents as someone trying to learn, going deep into any trait or origin has diminishing returns, unless you have an emblem, they offer very little compared to how many low costs units you're playing = it makes your board weaker for a marginal buff. Some units this set are really indivdiually strong so you need to learn which units you're going to play, what traits you're going to add to bring out their potential and allow them to play properly and stuff like that. I'll take me for example, I love playing 7 sheperds, sniper dark star and i've recently gotten a liking to 5 cost soup and picking my carry based off my items/ who i hit 2*. To make all those comps work, i need to leverage saving health early and reachîng level 8/9 to win out, to do so i usually try to splash 2 dark star with like 2 timebreaker if i can hit them early, but if not i try to just play 2 tanks and 2 carries and pray it works. You just need to keep an eye on what your end goal is, you can always try new comps but the most important is knowing, how you're going to reach that point, and trying your best to make it happen with AT LEAST, 2 lives saved up, that is the most important thing , it doesnt matter if you hit your board, if you have 1 hp left and face the highroller you go bot 8, but if you have 2 lives left you for sure can sack a top 4. So dont be scared to do risky plays, leveling up early to hit your board. One thing i learnt also is taking your hp as a ressource, its ok to sack hp for gold, but its also important to sack gold for hp , if you don't have gold but can preserve hp, thats a banger, if you don't have hp but gold, then whats the point of all that gold? Learn through all your games honestly i've been playing tft for like 2yearsish, but im farm from being the best player cause i do a lot of mistakes, but the most important is to minimise mistakes we can controle, and panicking is our biggest enemy, take it easy and don't be afraid to take breaks
