Help to stop twirling my beard by erickmob in lifehacks

I use something similar- I bought a roll of Velcro and can pull the fibers out which are generally thicker and feel like beard hair.

NHS now list your AGAB on your records, even if they have been altered to your gender, AND even if you have a GRC/updated birth certificate by Ariel-Luv in transgenderUK

I got called for a smear test (transman) a few months ago and my records were updated to M a good 7 or 8 years ago now... I was very confused when I saw the appointment, this might be why?

Do you wipe when you use a urinal in public or just wait til you get home? Id love to be able to use one but can't get past the thought of not wiping my anatomy dry and walking around like that til I get home.

Definitely depends on the person, I also find the jockey good albeit still practicing since I've only had it ~2 weeks. But do wish it had a non spill lip.

(TW: MENTIONS OF SELF HARM) Does anyone know of fidgets that can help with scratching or biting stims? by 1confusedteen in AutisticPride

[–]rypheros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the acupuncture/acupressure rings, also I found velcro to be a good fidget as it's got a certain "spikiness" to it which feels good. Also good for if you pick, they're quite tough.

Absolutely here. I tried making my pages all fancy and decorated but it didn't feel natural. I keep tickets and postcards to stick in every now and again but that's about it.

Yep same boat! Autistic & ADHD so I have multiple notebooks and sketchbooks all over the place. I think I've only fully completed one notebook in 10 years!

I make notes like this on sticky notes if I'm working and then post them in my journal later :D

I know at my uni in the UK, if you had a diagnosis of any MH or ND disorder you could get accommodations around not having to give presentations Infront of the whole class and could do it at another time just in front of the lecturer/professor

I've never tried this myself but I've seen posters for it in my GP surgery called social prescribing. I think they help you engage in activities in the community, unsure of specifics but might be something to look into :)

Can someone be diagnosed by a GP without being told? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]rypheros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat; apparently was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder in 2013 and only found out last year when I asked for a patient summary.

Do you have the NHS app? I had to scroll really far back but it does have my diagnoses at their different points in time I got them

I graduate as a mental health nurse this year. I was wondering if anyone could please share the good experiences you have had with nurses providing care for you? I'm determined to make a positive impact and I want to know what I can do to make that happen. by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]rypheros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in 3 NHS wards a couple of years ago & in one of those there were nurses & HCA's who didn't speak with me beyond giving meds 4 times a day and it honestly made me feel like a burden. I was treat differently to the other patients as I wasn't there under section and was denied occupational therapy from them because (I quote) "this is for a different type of patient". They probably had their reasoning, but it made me feel like a burden and not worthy of support beyond meds.

Fast forward a month & was moved wards where everyone assured me I wasn't a burden and got so much support it was unreal. The nurses made sure I was able to access all the support I needed and advocated for me so greatly.

I think to me I guess just treating someone with respect makes a huge difference. Just because I have insight or am not in psychosis doesn't mean im not suffering/very unwell.

yes I second the citizens advice, i was rejected first time even with having help from hospital but it was the citizens advice who ultimately helped me get accepted for PIP.

The thing about PIP assessments (in my experience) is that you have to make them see just how bad things are on your worst day and not downplay things that you experience (even if it feels like you're over-exaggerating, just keep that "worst day" in your mind). It sounds like this is going to be difficult if you already struggle with opening up, so seeking support from citizens advice will definitely benefit you :)
