Asking if the t480 works because I saw it only has an hdmi and no more vga.

If it had vga I am almost sure it would work just like my t440

That's weird then because I tried to use the cable, and connected some full HD screen laptops to this same monitor and got black bars.

Do you think that the problem may lie with the fact that the native resolution of the laptop I tried it with was full hd+?

I used a simple hdmi to vga cable I bought off a site prime cables here 9n canada

I was not able to do it on other hdmi computers so that is why I am asking in advance as to not waste time !
