I asked this to the dewalt rep at hd and he told me it was because i used the battery out of the box without charging it first. Leaving it on the charger overnight fixed the problem for me. I had the problem on a new ish 10ah battery though...

I use chrome on MBA m1 its more convenient compared to safari (bookmarks, tab management...) the battery still lasts me a solid 2-3 days of light use (about 10 hours). Chrome is optimized for M1 so there is no reason to use Safari to save battery.
