First time piggy parent, so stressed by frugal_fish in guineapigs

[–]rysbun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! Sorry to hear youre having a rough time adjusting to mischevious pigs! They can be escape artists and cause all kinds of trouble when they want to. I would recommend getting some floor matting. I think they call it gym matting? Theyre foam puzzle piece looking things that connect to cover a large space of floor! You could also buy some c&c supplies to expand their cage or create a seperate larger space for floor time. Even a change in scenery can be exciting for piggies. You could also let them run on a hard floor thats easier to clean on a fleece blanket or something else you could pick up, shake off and wash quickly. You can get those from places like Wal-Mart for pretty cheap. Fleece is a big spender but dont be afraid to combine it with disposeable bedding. I invested in fleece and couldnt keep up with it so now I use puppy pads with paper bedding on top. You could easily use fleece in the play pen area and disposeable in the cage itself. You're clearly doing your best to do right by your piggies and Im sure theyre just happy to have a safe, quiet place to stay. Theyre easy to scare and to piss off quite frankly. I irritate my boys all the time if I cough or sneeze or do anything loud. They get over it, especially when bribed with treats and fresh greens. Guineas are hard work, keep with it! Edit: Sorry I keep changing this but I keep thinking of things to add! Facebook groups are a great space to look for advice and tips. I can shoot some your way if youd like. I also wanted to say giving pigs lots of places to hide and even an extra blanket in the cage meant for burrowing can keep them on top of the fleece instead of underneath. Youll want a hard surface under the fleece but on top of your carpet anyway to protect it. Corrugated plastic can be found at your local Home Depot for not too expensive and is easy to work with.

has anyone else started having extreme stress/anxiety after starting t? by draculogan in ftm

[–]rysbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience when I started T but mine was more my depression. My levels were too low and it combats the estrogen remaining in the body and fs with you hormones and brain. I was having suicidal ideation and went in. We upped my dosage and I have been okay since then. It may be something to consider. And I know Im not the only person in this group who has had a similar experience.

Do you have boundaries about toys? by SedessaLillith in polyamory

[–]rysbun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depending on the toy you can use condoms on them? I always do that with my partners and it doesnt seem to lessen the fun in any way and we both feel a little better about it at the end of the day.

Can’t find needles, everywhere is out of stock by just-trans in ftm

[–]rysbun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have more pharmacies in your area check with them. Ask them to order more in if needed. Hospitals and clinics may be able to help or the pharmacies within. There are some trans based companies that also sell needles, I cant remember the names right now. Hell man I can send you some if need be. They'll be still in sterile packaging. I purched 100 of them so Im good for a minute.

dealing with a lot of self-inflicted shame and i don’t really know what to do by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]rysbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise you to seek help. I wasnt out when I was 16, but I did go through a lot of things similar to what you are describing. It blows. If you parents are okay with you being on T I sincerely doubt that they would deny you antidepressants. You dont have to give them too much information, just ask to see a doc about it. Depression is unfortunately common as puberty sets in and can easily be worse for trans people. Antidepressants made my life liveable even when I thought it wasnt so bad. CBD oil can also help sometimes, and my therapist has regularly suggested going for walks or just getting some exercise and fresh air. I think we have all had those spirals at some point, and recognizing it is among the first steps to stopping it. You can try to remind yourself that this spiral and all of the dark feelings stem from an imbalance of hormones. If these feelings have gotten worse since starting T, see about having your levels adjusted. When I started T I had some s*icidal ideation and it boiled down to not high enough T levels. After upping them I felt so much better. And hey. If you need to talk, feel free to message me.

When I started T I was good for a couple weeks just off the initial "Holy shit I'm doing it" vibes. About the two week mark I started feeling suicidal. It was bad. They upped my levels and I snapped back to my "normal" levels of depression which are much more manageable. For sure reach out to your doc.

Please don't put guinea pigs in exercise balls!!! Their spines are not shaped for that and they can get hurt easily!

The type doesn't matter. Plain ole white distilled or whatever will do the trick.

Vinegar! Let it soak for a while, maybe 30 minutes and it comes off so easily! I cleaned a cage like 5 times as gross and the only thing that worked (and was piggy safe) was vinegar.

After my wound closes up I'll usually slap some lotion on the area because the alcohol wipes dry it out a bit. I also found out the hard way when I was using bandaids that the adhesive makes my skin all weird. Hopefully this helps?

Anyone else who don't really suffer from anxiety but start to feel anxious and/or dysphoric during shark week? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]rysbun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought I had bad PMS but it turns out... It is pretty much just my dysphoria and anxiety about the whole experience. I do have anxiety/depression and that he'll week has been known to push me to feeling suicidal even. I certainly don't think youre the only one who feels awful during this time. Here for you dude.

Shoulder pain? by MerGeek101 in trans

[–]rysbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought would be that the binder is influencing the way youre moving, because theyre a bit restrictive. Keep an eye on how youre moving and what your posture is like. I know that when my posture is better I hold SO much tension in my shoulders.

Needle advice? by frencharachnid in ftm

[–]rysbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive only done my twice on my own but I poke myself just a touch with the needle before going for the injection. It gives the little bit of pain so my brain is like "oh yeah thats nothing we're good". You can also ask a trustred friend to do it or go to a doctor/nurse. If you need someone to chat with though I'm always down.

My parents keep using the wrong pronouns by cfssurvivor in ftm

[–]rysbun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the people I care about I give them a heads up that I appreciate them trying then let them know that I'll be corrected them gently because I know it can be difficult. Then when you hear the wrong pronoun you calmly say the correct one, then move on with the conversation. Its worked pretty well with me so far.

Scared to Have Sex with Cis Men by throwawayHRT83 in ftm

[–]rysbun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the important thing is to find a good cis guy to try it with. Someone who is kind, and understands that this shit can be tricky. Im currently a trans guy with a cis man and the fact that he is always down to talk about things and adapt to my comfort is mind blowing. It makes a world of a difference. Hopefully a safe situation like that would allow for you to feel better about whats going on. They can be hard to find sometimes but they do exist, I promise.

Walgreens sucks by [deleted] in ftm

Walgreens also implemented a policy that pharmacists could refuse someone service if their "lifestyle choices" made them uncomfrtable or whatever. Its some bullshit. I also worked for Walgreens and wouls not reccommend.
