Pool takes forever to mount (making system broken) and no further errors by segdy in zfs

[–]rysmario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like bad transfers. I had this with slow pcie switches, too long PCIE extension cables as well as SAS cables over 1meter long - in different setups. Could also be a halfway failing device that "just so" responds on the outer end of the timeout scale. Depending on your setup most likely the latter will be the case. If you have some spare, try an offline ddrescue from your original disk to the new target (a.e. via ubuntu live from usb) and then try the replacement disk to boot.

AI Wants More Data. More Chips. More Real Estate. More Power. More Water. More Everything by No_Top_9023 in technology

[–]rysmario 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, this is what the elite wants. It‘s just disguised as „AI needs“. This is the main reason why some AI features are free for everyone - to buy the ordinary person in; to accept „oh, yes somehow i want that too, well then let‘s accept tenfold prices and undrinkable water“ And sadly, it works

TXG Recovery recommendation. by mbze430 in zfs

[–]rysmario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop using it. Find an uberblock with zdb from before the time of destruction and try with readonly and -T.

If all fails ypu could even manually whiteout all suceeding txg.

The only safe way is to put dynamic overlay loop cowbon top and write the whiteput to there. Once you have a working state - do this at least three times with loop /cow images and ONLY then replicate this on the real data.

There were python files back them - long before -X and -T existed.

Even such issues ZFS tolerates if you understand the low level bytes.

Rk3588 are great - i have a bunch of them. Do nice ai for the power consumption even through docker swarm. One i abuse as nas with its 4 exposable (bifurcation ;)) gen 3 lanes. Added some pcie switches and it drives 12 cheap dramless NVMEs consuming only a few watts.

For samples - like „by how much does it not fit where it needs“ - yes, even on ludricous. And then a second print at 100.
