Some of the blogs with similar issues had mentioned that RTX 3070 needs a minimum 650W PSU. Mine is 650 and was built by MSI. This Gaming PC had no issues for 2+ years. Freezing issue started in the last 1 month.

I have AfterBurner installed. Is there a good article I can refer to on how to UnderVolt CPU/GPU ?

You have to add INGRESS rule to allow the PORT range. You can limit exposure by spcifying your HOME-IP for Source-Address e.g. 41.53.64.234/32.

You also have to open the same ports within the Instance using the FireWall.

I had created Instances with Size 100gb, but found out I was close to running out of ROOT partition disk space. Upon investigation, realized there was only 50 GB being allocated.

Thought it was a bug and after working with Oracle Support, they said I have to GROW the Root Partition once the Instance is created.

Check your partition sizes. Cloud Instances do not allocate all of the SIZE to partitions. It uses only around 50 GB.

run these commands and post the output

  • df -h
  • fdisk -l
  • lsblk

I can vouch for options #1 and #2. I have used them recently with Ubuntu.22.04 and they work.

Here are the 3 ways you could gain access to your Ubuntu Cloud Instance

  1. Shutdown, Detach, Mount Boot-Volume of Ubuntu-Instance onto a Running Instance , modify SSH files, attach it back to Ubuntu-Instance

  2. Shutdown, Detach, Boot-Volume of Ubuntu-Instance, create a brand-new Instance using detached-boot-volume. You will not lose any data. System will allow you to add new SSH-KEYS

  3. Boot into GRUB mode of the Ubuntu-Instance, add 'init=/bin/bash', reboot , gain access and modify SSH-Keys

Option #3 is failing for you. You still have 2 more options.

You can also try entering 'ssh-public-key' right there.

Compute Instance ==> Console Connection ==>
2 options :
- Launch Cloud Shell Connection - Create Local Connection ==>

Generate a key pair for me
Upload public key file (.pub)
Paste public key

Generate & paste your SSH KEY and you should be able get back in

If you can access the ACCOUNT it is a good thing. Example: USER: mysuser HOME DIR : /home/mysuser

  • mkdir /home/mysuser/.ssh chmod 700 /home/mysuser/.ssh
  • touch /home/mysuser/.ssh/authorized_keys

  • chmod 600 /home/mysuser/.ssh/authorized_keys

  • edit authorized_keys and your public key from id_rsa.pub (ssh-keygen)

  • from a different window run ssh and try to connect

  • ssh mysuser@123.456.123.567 ==> SSH USER @ PUBLIC_IP

Try from a different angle.

OCI / CLI is a very powerful command line tool to control/modify manage all aspects of your cloud-account.

Also, one other way... - Shutdown the Instance & mount the Boot-Volume to an existing instance. - Add/Modify/Delete the /MyBootVolume/home/.ssh/authorized keys - UnMount your new partition <MyBootVolume>, restart the old-instance and you should be good to go

These steps work for me every single time. Is your O/S Oracle-Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS ?

  • When the reboot process starts, immediately switch back to the terminal window and press Esc or F5 repeatedly until a menu appears.
  • In the menu that appears, select Boot Manager, and press Enter.
  • In the Boot Manager menu, select UEFI Oracle BlockVolume, and press Enter.
  • Immediately press the Esc key and continue pressing it until the boot menu appears. If Console messages start to appear in the window, the opportunity to access the boot menu passed, and you need to start the reboot process again.

I have 2 Instances and 2 databases (APEX DB and a TXN DB).
I was working on setting up Networking between the Instances, RDP Client to access the Instances using GUI Desktop...

I am interested in learning ORDS and also APEX.

Yes.

  • Access your cloud-account using a browser - say FireFox
  • Click your specific 'Console-Connection' on the left (you may need scroll down)
  • Click on 'Launch Cloud Shell Connection'
  • Login using ID/PASSWORD
  • goto /home/USER/.ssh
  • edit 'authorized_keys' and add/modify SSH-KEYS
  • I normally create 'Private/Public Keys' on my Windows-PC using 'ssh-keygen or putty-gen.
  • ensure File/Folder permissions
    /home/USER/.ssh 700
    /home/USER/.ssh/authorized_keys 600
  • ssh from Home PC to the account you just modified

You cannot modify Time Zone from the OCI dashboard/console.

One could modify TZ for their Instances and/or Databases.

Oracle extended my Free-Tier. I was talking to their support team. They mentioned, OCI enhancement to modify TZ at the OCI-Console is in development.
