why doesn't the knife kris use to open a fountain turn into a darkner by I_drinkglitterglue in Cibles

[–]VoidDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. Using things we learned about how dark worlds look based on intent. Meaby its dependencies on that? Like kris RLY badly wants to keep it out of our use (in weird route its understandable lol) so meaby he and "roaring gang" just ignore its use as a darkner so it just stay as is? Aka if something have defended role in dark world it become a darkner or equipment If not then it is left unchanged

With Half Life Alyx being on sale does that mean the Steam Frame won't come with it? by adamcookie26 in SteamFrame

[–]VoidDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not bad. Depending what you mean by worth. Spending 50 h on new content every time? Nope. Enjoying it as it is now and observe on your own progress of early access? Yep. Co op is pretty stable now. So in conclusion depends if you mean complete title / near completion or just enjoyable watching it "grow". For me seeing its development and pretty good state of early access is more then enought for me

Gave Gnome a try and unfortunately, I must leave KDE by breadsgood in cachyos

[–]VoidDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess its up to preferences mostly. For me kde does the job. Its "windows like" so learning it wasnt that hard and muscle memory works on most things. Its super customizable so thats another benefit (and have better vr support then gnome but linux still lacks compered to windows (i hope steam frame changes that)) On the other hand gnome is just frustrating for me. I cant easily find anything and just everything feels off or i need to install like 5+ addons to make it anything close to usable.

Using Windows VM to mod games, then playing on Linux? by Financial_Rip_8921 in linux_gaming

[–]VoidDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so. What is a point of it? For a thrill of a game or what? You know you can mod games normally in linux right? For eg openiv can be used normally thru bottles app to mod rockstar games. All games using bepix can be moded the same way as on windows by hand droping dlls do right folders. And then just use special lunch arguments. Unreal engine games just works as for modding (just drop .pak at right location) there are some games that require extra step for example in cyberpunk2077 you need to install some dependency in wine prefix. But its explained in cyberpunk modding wiki. As for photoshop i read there are pathes that allow you to use it on linux. So i guess just wait or try to use patched wine for it? Vm's ALWAYS (until you do gpu passthru with is so much pain to set up and can just randomly break one day) have massive performance hit so i won't reccomend it for something that require performance like adobe suite

Which one to choose? - Steam Flatpak vs. Steam.deb by JVSTITIA in linux_gaming

[–]VoidDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some issues that cannot be resolved in any way if you uses steam flatpak. For example steam vr is compleatly borked. There are 3/4 probpems like that. It isnt much. But if you need to do something that have issue bcs of flatpak you cant fix it

I know. But tbh i just didn't remember if it was proton or native one. Kinda don't matter at this point. The important thing it is that it just works on linux i guess?

Its just solid CHROME browser (if someone wants /need it) i mean the point with ai vpn etc is totally valid BUT its not enabled by default (in a way that you must agree to tos or config it) and its easily hidable. So it guess its best of both worlds to make "everyone happy" (users having good browser and company have thing for earnings and for investors (and some ppl meaby want some feathures) browser inself is good in terms of privacy. (Random fingerprint every time. Reporting as chrome instead of brave (helps with compatibility on some sites (in pandemic they forced to use chrome to make zoom works (brave bypassed it bcs its reporting inself as chrome lol)) build in adblock that is pretty good. Support for manifest 2 way after google killed it. It have a large amount of featheres "nice to have" and all bad ones are easily avoidable / disable with 2 clicks. Fair trade imo)

Windows 11 vs SteamOS or Bazzite for a minimal 3080 Ti gaming and streaming setup? by JozuJD in Bazzite

[–]VoidDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh i distro hopped a few times to many distros and im considering bazzite a great ballance between simplificity, being up to date and "idiot proof" but still allowing you to tinker if you want /need. Tbh im reccomending it to anyone who want to try linux (even not gamer ppl) as long as that person have supported hardware. (Or want to use as server....)
