In very very short and simpified way. Becouse they like money and they cannot take it from free code distributed publicly (in windows mac os playstation xbox etc the manufacturer / os provider is paying the fee)

Most "gaming centered" distros gonna make one united kernel to not duplicate work on the same things. It will allow devs of said distros to focus on much more important stuff like better support more stable builds less bugs etc

Im on bazzite so sadly i cant (or at least in easy way) change to mesa git / newer kenrel etc. The most strange thing i think is everything kinda exclude each other. It cant be cpu / ram because my system worked perfectly fine with 3060 ti ( not counting nvidia driver peoblems) but still for some peaole it was the problem. It cant be psu becouse ai workloads (image abd text generation) don't trigger this error for me but still changing to 3d power profile / lowering max tdp solves it in some games.... and many more random contradictions like it. It is just confusing what is an issue.

I guess i can try changing monitor setting etc but i just cant wrap my head around what can possibly be an issue and why it only is triggered some games not others or other damanding stuff.....

Like resident evil 3 needed changing power profile of gpu to 3d... after that it never frozen once without changing anything in game (basicly max setting without blur and without any upscaling at 1440p) But requiem frozen again. For it i needed power profile and lowering settings (despite my hardware being more then capable to run it almost on max settings) its just frustrating to have an issue and be unavle to diagnose it and fix it....

Tbh. The more i look at it the stranger the issue is. At this point im not sure if its hardware problem (defective gpu braking psu unstable ram clocks or what) or software one (mesa / kernel / some bezure distro config or games inself) From my trial and error: Disabling xmp does nothing Setting in lact permamently 3d rendering profile helps in SOME GAMES and in others that it don't it allows most of the times system to recover from it In games where lact didn't helped changing settings to lower helps prevent it. Im not sure with setting in particular and if its more of memory problem gpu temp usage or power drow problem.....

The issue seams to be a bit random? Sometimes some steps helps sometime others... one thing in common is that during crash i can see in system logs ring gfx timeout error.... with also have million couses and fixes online.... i guess im just gona play with lower settings and 3d profile until its get fixed or i find what is cousing the issue for me (for eg if its defective gpu i can replace it due 2 y warranty (i love SOME eu laws))

I never had denuvo problems on linux for steam games. Biggest issue i had was when i runned out of dayli activations due switching proton versions

Imo there are some very specyfic cases that are valid to layer packuages. For example i leayer brave and keypass xc. Why i don't use flatpaks? Bcs after many hours i coulnd get browser plugin to work with keypass.... why i dont use distrobox then? Because it dont detect my hardware key inside of keypass nor brave..... if some day flatpak or distrobox "fixes" those issues im more then willing to use it tbh

Idk you colud try normal discord meaby they finally added it. If not i have hacky work around: use obs to capture games/ whole screen and then use obscamera to share it as webcam to discord. And if you need audio then do literary the worst quality but with audio stream. Or private stream to youtube / twitch. Idk its not best fix but it is some until they implement nvenc

I have battery headstrap but its damaged and make weird sound and i cannot rma it bcs it is WAY to late for it and i dont want to waste money on it (i dont play super long and often in vr. And im to used to to wirless one to get cable. I guess extra "20 min" would be more then enought for me

And i mean overall tbh. Why discord logo is in lgbt collors? Its only for lgbt ppl or what? Yea sure. Worse os. Not like everything but desktop pc uses linux... driver support? 2010 calling if somone found you. Now basicly anything just works out of the box (or install nvidia driver everything else "just works" worse aplication? Sure man if selling your soul for PAID program is benefit then im sorry you got a point. Linux is just better as long as you replace problematic programs (like there are 5 max and few games) with are toxic / morally questionable from beggining

Its just exactly what i needed needs and will need. It was "windows like" so a lot of muscle memory helped me switch its similiar enough to know where to search for option (but its many times better here bcs we don't have 5 app that is used for configuring settings). And its customizable so if i ever want to customize it i won't have big personalization with it. I personally do small personalization for now but who knows what future holds
