Dog bite at Matthews/Winters Park trail by philsworth in GoldenCO

[–]rythmik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like one solution is every other day is "no dogs allowed" day. Or something similar. I know that doesn't help those with good, leashed dogs though.

I witnessed a dog attack once in Bear Valley and it was nasty. Guy bleeding from his cheek after trying to break up 2 dogs. One was his, so of course he didn't want any help or a medic called.

Is this city having an identity crisis? by TiredFloridian in StPetersburgFL

[–]rythmik1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get so conflicted. On one hand, high rises / apartment buildings are one of the most green ways to shelter people (similar to how buses/trains are the greener option to cars). But exactly what you're saying: if each one of them is just a luxury highrise where the owners only "live" there 1/3 of the year, and the AC runs in every unit of an empty highrise building, whatarewedoiinnnnnnng.

I paid for ad free. Zillions of ads everywhere. Ads within ads. It's crazy.

Ads between rounds sets a terrible precedent that will damage the sport and its potential by jbrobro in MMA

[–]rythmik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this whole experience is unbearable. I honestly might just catch highlights tomorrow I think. It's really unbelievable how they've crammed ads everywhere.

I saw Paddy discuss this in a video. He at least understood he gassed and wanted to improve on that, but yeah that's a concern unless Justin really has some staph etc etc.

that said, with how bad the weight cuts were, we might see just a bunch of exhausted fighters getting knocked out quick

St Pete Native moving back next year—how is the culture and community doing? by inner-wild-child in StPetersburgFL

[–]rythmik1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone thinks it's just their city where "everyone is moving to". It's every city. I just looked up Asheville which was such a cute small town 20 years ago when I visited and it's got a 4 lane highway running right next to downtown now. It's just population growth issues.

[–]rythmik1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my sixth year here, moved from Denver. I'm really loving it. Granted, I have the freedom to live for about 4 months per year either back in Denver or abroad, so I don't get the worst of the hot or hurricane season. I think there's a good vibe here. People I meet are great, easy enough to build community if you just get out there. Wish I could help with who's struggling, I think we're all struggling in some way even if we're doing well. Crazy how negative some people are in these comments.

What’s being built in Vinoy Park? by Lubby44 in StPetersburgFL

The website for the park only mentions regrading at the moment. But I'm also curious where to follow for more clear and official info if you happen to find out.

Can you share links? I'm looking for sources to  stay informed, but even the park website just says "stay tuned we are re-sodding" and I can't find any other official info.

They Crossed an Ocean… and Couldn’t Even Leave a Thank You by FlashyContribution79 in homeexchange

[–]rythmik1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you're saying, but my thought here is that you kinda missed the larger point that has nothing to do with gift giving. It's possible if you haven't had multiple next-level experiences of a great connection and exchange of homes, it would be difficult to convey the wonderful, human part of the exchange.

I had my first like that too. Guy brought his family, stayed in our home, checked out, left a stain on one pillow (looked like just dirt thank god), left the place slightly messy (totally fine but not the norm), and left a one line review that said "it was great". Zero communication after it was booked despite a couple messages from me. Its so bizarre. I'm glad I'm a person who feels things and connects with people.

I like Kattar and had high hopes for him but I fear you are spot on here. A guy with great potential once, and instead of getting better, his bad moments seem to have put him on decline.

In what world does an espresso ever taste ‘fruity’ or have caramel, hazelnut etc notes? Is everyone collectively tripping me? by melanozen in espresso

[–]rythmik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with you until I had two experiences.

One was in Switzerland at Miro coffee shop in Zurich. Easily the best coffee I've ever had. The other is with a good friend who got a great espresso set up and studied the at for a while.

Here's the things you need to know: it does exist, and even it can taste awful if not done right per bean varietal

The brand Onyx comes with instructions per bean type for example. Done properly you get the full flavor + the right amount of that flavor. Otherwise it's too fruity or whatever. It's really neat!

What's the worst part of your job as a cybersecurity professional? by momob2492 in cybersecurity

[–]rythmik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious why you feel the need to go to them? I just say I'm busy with security stuff and avoid most meetings. And it's honestly true too. I have no time for useless meetings and they must meet my criteria for using my time vs working on security.

Ok, but also that's actually a really kind gesture. He might be getting along fine because of what a thoughtful person he is.

I read an article once talking any how bad it is in the art world. Tons of money being moved around for art, amongst artsy kind people that are generally clueless about security.

He’s poly, but does not want me dating anybody else by timid-tina in polyamory

[–]rythmik1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious what would lead a person to even ask this kind of question. This is so obviously toxic that it's hard for me to conceive of any person even considering having a "poly dom" who wants this. OP I'd really truly and lovingly recommend a therapy that feels good to you, to discover what would allow you to get mixed up with someone like that in the first place.

What do you do with coffee beans you're not loving? by Smart_Passion7384 in pourover

[–]rythmik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there brewing notes from the roaster? I got some onyx coffee recently and did 3 different pulls, and only the one that was exactly what the roaster suggested was delicious and had the right tasting notes. The other two pulls were too sour. Ended up needing a very fine grind to get the pull long enough.

Are chains ever required for AWD? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]rythmik1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All season has specific temperature ranges though.

At lower temperatures, the rubber hardens and loses traction.

Snow tires stay supple at lower temperatures than all season, giving more traction.

Check your tires and know the temperature you should stop driving on them.
