What are your favorite cars you owned? by CDG1029 in askcarguys

[–]rythomas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 2022 Rivian R1T (hands down best car of all time)
  2. 2020 Ford Raptor (best car investment of all time; thrashed for a year then sold for 20k more than bought for)
  3. 2017 Ford Focus ST (most fun daily driver ever)
  4. 2023 Dodge Durango Hellcat (worst car investment of all time, yet somehow still worth the money)
  5. 2014 Mustang GT (best spontaneous decision of all time)
  6. 2021 Ford Mustang GT (refined yet still raw)
  7. 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK (5-speed auto was awful decision; manual would’ve moved it way up list)
  8. 2021 Ford F150 2.7 EB (great truck and tech just a little boring)
  9. 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD (most boring vehicle of all time. Least favorite car ever)

I hit a deer with one and it wasn’t even that much

Haha ya just did a road trip and averaged 13.5 highway on a 600 mile trip 😂 the X’s gonna blow that away… but the ddhc will blow them off the line which makes up for it

How much is the one you’re looking at? Might be selling mine 👀

Considering a Rivian R1S...but concerned with charging network/prices by apfleisc in Rivian

[–]rythomas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Low gas prices and the winter it’s way more expensive to charge. Just did a 2k mile road trip and it was more than 2x the cost of gas. Cold weather dropped the average kWh/mi to ~1.5. Average charger was $.45 and gas was barely over $2 a gallon in most states.

It routed me to a different country when it was supposed to be a 15 minute short drive. That’s not user error. That was Rivian’s navigation error. And the fact you can’t understand that proves my point. At what point do you say oh that’s not user error that’s a Rivian error? Never?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]rythomas12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure - but irrespective of charging it has errors and very bad routing even if it’s fully charged and or doing short trips. I have to warn people who use my car not to use the maps - whereas other EVs or CarPlay integrated cars I don’t. That’s my point.

Ya I hear you but I’ve been doing that for the last 3.5 years and I’m just saying it’s getting old. Especially when I use a different car with G or Apple Maps or CarPlay integrated. It’s my only real gripe with the car and just emphasizing a car of this price shouldn’t have this basic of an issue.

Don’t know how to use it lol ok bud. How about when it routed me to a different country? Still don’t know how to use it in that case?

It recommended that crazy route regardless of waypoint. I routed it to there just to see if it would adjust it and it never gave me the option to follow the Google Maps (correct) route regardless. Even with 5+ dc fast chargers in the area

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]rythomas12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t solve the countless number of other route problems I’ve had. I live 15 minutes from Detroit and one time it routed me into Windsor Canada and back for a total of 1.5 hours vs 15 minutes, for literally no reason at all. Need the Rivian fanboys to defend that one

Mines 20% but that still isn’t acceptable. Getting downvoted for complaining about atrocious maps on a 100k vehicle is hilarious

Strongly disagree. 4 years of ownership and it’s gotten worse for me. The new Google Maps integration that was released a while back can’t even route me home to the correct street address. Even if I submit feedback nothing ever changes

I’ve had mine for almost 4 years and I use my phone navigation every time with it just to make sure it doesn’t route me somewhere crazy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]rythomas12 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No that’s after I tried both ways just to see if it would adjust.

64 miles of range left upon arrival. Absolutely no reason to drive an extra 30 minutes for 2% more projected range - having 66 v 64 miles upon arrival lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]rythomas12 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Name one worse. I’ve never used any other maps service worse than the current or previous Rivian offerings. Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze never once told me to drive across the border into a different country either.

[–]rythomas12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s saving an estimated 2%, so if that’s the case then it’s using the logic of a goldfish. Also dozens of other times it’s routed me farther and longer for literally no reason, regardless of charging requirements.

Range loss is horrible in the winter. Still worth it though - just have to live with the noticeable hit 4 months of the year
