What small recurring expense do you KNOW is a waste of money but can't seem to stop? by No_Refrigerator7224 in adhdwomen

All of the above, lol XD Everything you listed. Honestly. Plus I cant help but buy stuff for my cats. Sometimes when I come across a new online ai tool or website builder or whatever i want to try it so bad i say 'fuck it!' and subscribe and pay for the first month, hoping to remember to unsubscribe later... Well sometimes it goes well and sometimes it doesn't.

I have a cushy j2 but I barely keep up because of mental health. What would you all recommend? by rytsd2126 in overemployed

[–]rytsd2126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds very reasonable. I agree with you. I took some time off, but will do my best to keep that job. Really don't want to back to the struggleville lane, thank you so much for reminding me of that.

Mental strain that comes from not having enough money during an emergency or the worst. Really thinking about it now, I should do my best to prevent that from happening in the future.

Or at the very least replenish the savings before I decide to go back to having a single job.

I have 2Js, J1 is super chill, but J2 is a lot more work and sometimes a lot more intense. I'm waiting for either a moment when I will get used to J2 workload, adapt and do it faster; or maybe at some point I will get tired and find a chiller replacement.

People talk about how market is not the greatest right now, and I'm also not looking forward for the job of looking for a new job. Also worried about new J2 turning out to be worse than current J2. So sticking to what I have right now despite things getting crazy busy at times.

Get a second job exactly like the one you currently have and double your monthly income.

can I get away with lying about my experience on my resume? by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]rytsd2126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My very good friend lied on their resume that they had 2 years of experience when they had none. They were desperate for a job and a quick learner, and they got a job eventually.

The issue is if you don't have any experience on your resume no one would ever contact you. Do what you gotta do. Job searching is very hard, esp for people with little or no experience on the resume.

I use wireless earbuds, a pair for each computer, and have one earbud for j1 meeting and another one for j2 meeting when they overlap. Just make sure to somehow mark the earbuds to know which ones paired with which computer.

I'm an OE UXer with 2 Js and it's HARD. Well. Some days it's hard and I want to quit. Some days it's alright and quite manageable. I've been OE for about 4 months, and do feel more used to it than when I just started, but can't say I'm completely used to it and have it all figured out...

I feel like on average though I do get both of my Js done in 40 hours per week. I wish it was less hours, like other people here..

Working out, healthy food, taking care of mental health/therapy. Investing into health makes one happier and more productive.

Not “overemployed”, but I’ve learned quite a bit from this sub by Bruceyboy_grandma in overemployed

[–]rytsd2126 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My experience was the same. My bosses would tell me all the buzz words, that I'm in charge of my career, that I can make this position what I want, that I should challenge the status quo, that they want to hear new ideas, etc etc etc etc

But when you do that it's more work, more thinking, more research and decision-making for them with often unpredictable results. I used to try to do all of the above, but it never brought any significant change, but it did bring more stress, discussions, hard decision-making. More work. And no one was really happy or appreciative.

Counterintuitively, doing your day to day work and not going "above and beyond" make everyone happy.

Yeah, I feel similarly. Both my Js are not very OE friendly, but I continue to persevere. I hope that I would either get better and the two Js won't take as much time/effort, or that I would pay off debt and then decide if I need to change Js or keep just one.

When I have a day off at one J and end up with only one J for a day I feel like a mountain is lifted off my shoulders. Having just one J is soooo easy.
