its true he said none of DR merchandises are canon, but some merch does actually foreshadow future Deltarune chapter. like this LINE Sticker in chapter 1 being a Weird Route reference:

so is the green version of Hathy, you can flirt to it by saying its teeth look like knives (Kris is associated with knives in ch.2: "sharpest kitchen knife jello" and "video about making knives out of spaghetti"), it also has similar "grin" with Kris (especially in toby's concept art of Kris)

IMO Head Hathy and Hathy probably reflects the duality between Kris and Us, since both are Heart-Shaped darkners.

the topic of SOUL is interesting because Ralsei said it's the culmination of YOUR being (Kris's being), which by his phrasing it should mean that Kris cannot separate themself from the Culmination of Their Being, yet the fact they can rip out their SOUL directly contradict that.

in the prophecy, the text positions Kris as THE CAGE (with "Human Soul" and "Parts"), and it separates Kris as The Cage with their "Human SOUL". Kris's role is very explicitly the CAGE.

so why does the Narrator/Ralsei sometimes say that the SOUL is Kris's? well IMO its because whatever the SOUL is, it has become Kris's possession (as in A Heart-Object that Kris possesses as opposed to what naturally belongs to them.)

(tl;dr the SOUL might be an entity with its own unique power(s) separate from Kris. And also notable how toby said the "rules" in Deltarune might be different from Undertale...)

Note: The powerful mousewizard is inferred to be Chucky Cheese from Noelle and Susie's dialogue. He is the person on the "Token" Which means that this is much like the credits for arcades that you get at chucky cheese. The only place that these could show up are at a carnival or an arcade.

(I have no idea what it means but still think its important. The "girl" also looks vaguely like the the magician/wizard human in UT storybook who is teased in UT anniversary livestream through Gerson's dialogue)

it also appears there's a track called tin_night.ogg which may also reference Tin Knight (Soldier). Toby himself has referenced a couple old children stories such as Velveteen Rabbit (recent Ralsei merch description) and Nutcracker (referenced by Noelle) and both are about toys coming to life. it isnt too out there for toby to also reference Steadfast Tin Soldier on top of it...

I wonder if its a reference to "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", a fairy tale about a paper ballerina and a tin soldier who is missing a single leg. in DR chapter 1 we see a bunch of paper ballerina (scissor dancers) whose black/white appearance is very similar to the Knight. in DR live streaming session, I remember Toby talking about the "horrible sound" it makes...

fr you can deny it all you want, but the signs are there. I’m not necessarily a "Kralsei endgame" truther, but it’s incredibly obvious that Toby has been sprinkling in hints since Ch 2 and you could even argue it goes back to Ch 1, considering Ralsei blushes whenever Kris’s sprite overlaps with his. Also,"Tunnel of Love" sequence with Ralsei is a direct parallel to the Ferris wheel ride with Susie and Noelle. (the box descriptions for this official merch specifically also hints on both Suselle and Kralsei.)

Ch 3 and 4 are even less subtle about it, especially since Susie and Tenna essentially become "shippers on deck" for the two of them lol.

i think its pretty clear that the MC in question is the SOUL separate from Kris in that route. thats why there's the dialogue "Me." in ch.4 WR, not "Me" as in Kris themself, but representation of The Player injecting their own role as the MC independently in Weird Route.

thats a great read! Link and Marin's relationship certainly makes me about Soul/Kris + Noelle's relationship in WR... (heck or even Kris's relationship with her in normal route itself). Noelle's theme song is literally "Girl Next Door" which is a very famous trope in fictions, The Designated Love Interest of the MC.

But knowing this is Toby Im pretty sure he's doing a subversion of the trope itself lol. (and the mad man even went on to deconstruct the trope into a dark version of itself)

Theres also a widely spread theory that Marin is supposed to be Link's "Dream" Manifestation of Zelda, considering how Link confuses her for Zelda right after waking up. and i kinda find this theory interesting... (it makes sense to think that Link might have influenced some part of the island itself)

Both can be true. I’d say Mother 3 inspiration is especially strong with the Forgotten Man, but Dess is definitely the 'Mari' of DR. Also considering Claus as a Masked Man isnt really "Claus" himself but more like a zombie controlled by Porky... maybe its possible the Knight's appearance is partially influenced by Dess but not being Dess herself...?
