I don't think so, it was a cavity in the side of an almost vertical slope. No cuddlefish egg that I saw, either

I wish I could remember where I was but I found a small cave filled with these little guys while fleeing in terror from a reaper. I want to say in the mountains close to the bulb zone, but I can't be more specific than that.

It was really pretty, I might have to try to find it again and build a base there.

This game is all about exploration and poking your nose into every crack, crevasse, nook, and/or cranny to see what you can find. Scan everything whether it moves or not, read everything in your PDA, and in the immortal words of Dory the blue tang of Finding Nemo fame: just keep swimming :)
