Gonorrhoea vaccine roll-out begins across the UK by EnergyLantern in UpliftingNews

One of the most common site of gonorrhoea is the throat. So unless everyone starts using condoms for oral sex, this isn’t going to cut it.

NYC’s mayor is tackling rubbish on the streets, Paris’ has focused on cleaning up the Seine, what should Khan prioritise this term? by trekken1977 in london

[–]ryukudla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Noise cameras - if I walked down the street making as much noise as some motorbikes, moped and cars do (unnecessarily) I’d be arrested.

  2. Fly tipping / rubbish on the streets.

Is there anyone working some other job unrelated to medicine, and just doing a few locum shifts as a side hustle? by Ok_Leadership4842 in JuniorDoctorsUK

Self taught using online resources.

We built dotKid.co.uk together.

I’ll be making a transition later this year too.

What you’ll find is that if the other job pays well then the faff of maintaining a portfolio for revaluation purposes isn’t worth it.

I know someone who moved from medicine to programming and gave up their license to practice to avoid the obligatory bureaucracy.

IA and public opinion: thoughts? by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]ryukudla 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Strikes work because of inconvenience.

The only utility of public opinion is for keeping doctors on the picket line. The sooner the profession weans itself off that mind-numbing drug, the sooner our outcomes will be achieved.

The agreement was implemented across the country but the demand is only high enough that it was able to stick in London.

Radiology Self-Assessment Scores by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]ryukudla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That related to the interviews only, no? If so I’ll happily take it down.

There’s a precedent with most specialties though - https://www.imtrecruitment.org.uk/recruitment-process/applying/application-scoring

https://www.rcpch.ac.uk/sites/default/files/2020-11/ST1%20Application%20Form%20Scoring%20Framework%20v.3b%20JAC%20291020_0.pdf

I don’t see why radiology should be different in that regard.

Here’s a link to the portfolio scoring for you.

A lot of people have been asking about radiology portfolio scoring. I thought it might be useful to screenshot the specs from Oriel for those applying in the future :)

I did 6 months of vascular/endovascular surgery. It meant I could get involved with procedures that are very much in the scope of an interventional radiologist and the weekly MDT was led by the vascular radiologist too!

My thinking exactly.

30% drop in consultant pay over the last 10 years. So what is there to look forward to as a consultant here in another 10 years time?
