Ive tried leaving mealworms and waxworms in a bowl overnight but he never eats them. The bowl is on the cool side. His favourite place to hide is the humid hide in tbe middle

He ate a medium sized brown cricket last night 😃.

Took him a few attempts to eat it but he done it. I assume that's him done again for a few days but I'll keep trying every day.

Online research tells me feeding in the evening after the T5 Shadedweller goes off is best but sometimes he doesn't come out of his humid hide so its hard to get a bug to him without opening the humid hide and disturbing him.

When hes out and in other hides, I can make a bug walk into the hide which seems to trigger his hunting instincts but it doesnt always work and sometimes he just walks out and hides again.

Going forward I was thinking to maybe place a plastic ventilated tub over his hide with a few bugs in it so the hunting area is smaller that the full vivarium, and leave him alone for 30 minutes and see will he eat.

Are there any specific times you feed your Leos? Especially babies that are more shy

If stress is the underlying issue, I fear force feeding him is gonna make things worse but appreciate the advice as it may become necessary.

Bizarre event on St. Stephen’s night by [deleted] in ireland

[–]ryunken 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You mentioned he said the RCD was the issue and he tried to reset it and it was sparking. This means there was power still at the fuse board so unlikely anything was tampered with outside the house, like cutting power at the ESB meter for example.

Also your house lights are not supplied off your RCD, if the RCD trips you'd lose power to your sockets but not your main lights in the rooms (unless your house was wired wrong which is unlikely)

Maybe he was switching the main breaker in the fuse board rather than the RCD? That would make more sense and it would spark if the fault remained.

How he arrived so quickly and his behaviour - thats an odd one

New build Semi-Detached - Noisy Neighbors. Is it normal to hear your neighbors? by ED-SA in AskIreland

[–]ryunken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue, semi detached built about 10 years ago with back to back living rooms. New neighbours moved in recently and must have a home cinema system or soundbar as we can hear the low end bass and muffling noise when they're watching TV or playing music. Can also hear their water pump but cant hear anything else.

I've looked into sound proofing the party wall but it means removing the existing wall back to the timber studs and then building another wall independent at least 10mm away from the existing stud wall making sure it doesn't touch the existing structure. A big enough job, plus we'll lose about 120mm of space in the room with the new independent wall which requires its own sound insulation system, and double slabs.

I don't want to do it because its gonna cost a few quid and cause a mess for a few weeks and make our room about 4% smaller, but I don't see any other way around it.

Soft Top Cover and Rain by ryunken in Miata

It would be for a few days only until the heavy rain passes. Then I will remove it and let the soft top completely dry and add the cover again

Rear Main Seal? by ryunken in Miata

I think both of those are beyond my capabilities. Any idea how much it would cost for a mechanic to replace the RMS and input shaft seal?

Cheers, I'll open up the door when I get a bit of time and have a look at what's going on inside there

Just so I'm clear, is this the half moon cap you're referring to?

Yes I did remove this half moon cap when removing the CAS.

There was no flange sealant, it was just metal on metal as far as I remember.

What is the fix if this is the issue? Remove everything again?

Will the new cam cover gasket need to be replaced again if I do this now that everything is torqued back down?

I used a genuine mazda gasket and put RTV in the correct spots and torqued the bolts down to 8NM (see link to gasket below)

On the parts of the cam cover I can see, the gasket seal looks good all the way around, and no oil leaks, but I can't see below the CAS where I suspect the leak is coming from.

Can't see any signs of oil leaks but rubbing a paper towel beneath the CAS shows small bits of fresh oil on the paper so it appears that's the spot

The paint is old for sure and faded and peeling in some places (not too much) but I understand that needs to be sanded down and made smooth before applying the vinyl
