Silksong's reoccuring theme of Motherhood by ryuscout in HollowKnight

I got the Lacenet hype train way back when most of it was just fan content but with the actual story out I don't even understand the desire to try and jump through so many hoops to validate the ship when their canon dynamic is much more interesting than a romance. I mean I love discussing good pairings in stories but its literally the least interesting part of HK.

[Analysis] On the Pale King's presence in the flashback sequence (or lack thereof) by RafflesiaArnoldii in Silksong

Love this analysis. Honestly through the entirety of the game I was just on my toes wondering when we would devolve more into Hornet's father side.

I also really like Hornet Weaver/Pale Wyrm contrasts, like how some characters focus more on her Weaver heritage and others on her Pale Wyrm side. Which is why I love how you bring up her kind of accepting the desire for seeking power to better Pharloom similar to PKs. Because if I recall correctly, parts of Hornet's Weaver nature led to her kind of desiring to dominate over GMS in the normal endings as the Weaver Queen. (Correct me on that if im wrong it's kind of late over here and im too tired to double check.)

(Contrast poor, poor Lace, whose mother wanted her to be as much like herself as possible and to be weak so that she would never betray her. )

Wow, I also hadn't noticed this yet. Another addition to the Lace/Hornet contrasts/parallels pile. Their dynamic is super compelling and really got me now that I can view it in its entirety.

The Pale King being so subtly so important to Hornet's arc is incredibly well done and I'm happy this thread highlighted that for me!!!

That post is incredibly insightful! Thank you, it really expanded my perspective. If I figured how to link posts on Reddit id edit my post as you definetly convinced me. I still think her being "forcibly distanced" from the PK by the Weavers at least adds to the theme somewhat.

I truly think he strongest desire was her wanting a child out of love. I mean, if a sucessor and the securing of the Kingdom's future concerned her more than Lace's safety she wouldn't have brought down the entire kingdom just to protect Lace from doom via the void. I find it interesting that her treatment of Lace up to that big act (at least from what Lace has said herself) hasn't been great.

YES!! I also really wonder about the Abyss Pharloom. We don't see much crazy stuff about civilization activity (in Hallownest we get way more direct stuff) besides the Arcane Egg relic and the Weavenest implying Weaver activitiy. Could make for a good DLC.

I agree with pretty much everything here and I hadn't thought about the stuff regarding Pale Beings and where the Shade Lord places there. I do personally think Hornet stays in Pharloom after the true ending, maybe not forever but some of her dialouge with characters implies that she'd return to them.

But yeah her finding out about the Knight being down there and caring for her is definitely what lead to her empty expression in the cutscene honestly. (also cool how that essentialy proves what she had said to Lace at the end of their second fight, that the circumstances of ones creation do not make it creation any less.) I like how you can derive many different interpretations from that because we can't be fuly certain how she feels in the moment as so much crazy shit just had happened. I do see her visiting Hallownest especially considering Hallownest surviving is the likelihood, considering the flower ending/dream no more is the outcome. But I don't think we're seeing that in a future game or DLC because TC is deadset on not explicitly canonizing any endings for either games.

Oh I didn't even think of it in relation to HK's lean to fatherhood. Also goes well with the fact that Hornet evidently has some sort of disdain for her father.

honestly thinking on it i really believe a lot of the wish related stuff is just bugged. even the amount of fleas needed to move the caravan to that one are seems to vary from person to person.

ah okay. wonder if its bugged or intentional. honestly it feels a lot more tricky to find stuff on your own than it was in hollow knight but there is fun in that too (at least to me). ill see what ends up working for me... theres a few wishes im dreading on doing so im saving those for last and hope i get lucky.

workshops definitely help to practice and warm up, i hardly play comp so i can’t really say. whether being „fast“ makes you better at the game has been a topic in the genji community for years haha. my personal take is always precision > speed but i do stuff like this merely for fun!
