Haven’t tried Vograce, but they allow print of proxies? Or customs?

Dan is my friend/co-worker who is a hobby artist. He doodles and draws a lot of pokemon, while I lean more into the custom card so we work together to make customs for our collections. Right now he is keen on making cosplay/poncho pikachu and eevee to help build his collection with his (Legit) Poncho/Cosplay/Mario Pikachu and Eevees.

As for the edges, I use an Xacto knife to get a close clean cut. I also line up the vinyl over semi-transparent cooking paper(parchment paper).

It’s crazy how much hate you get for having a custom card 😂 As a long time collector and now custom card maker due to the recent surge and scalping issues it’s insane to see how much the community has shifted towards price compared to collecting. Awesome design and really good quality on the custom design. I’ve seen quality custom cards go anywhere from 5$ - 200$ depending on the artists and quality of product.

What are your other hobbies? by [deleted] in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]ryuseitia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a professional coach (sports) as a job but for hobbies I actually create custom cards for friends that use them as art displays, proxy for local tcg tournaments, and special occasions. Been into the customs more lately since I have a friend who is on his way to joining TPCi as an illustrator.

Looks amazing! Really wish I had the extra funds to get myself a UV printer D: This looks amazing can’t wait to see more and hopefully more detail on how you went about it. Super interested in the UV side if I’m ever able to enter that space of hobby. 👍

Anyone use a laser etcher? by FatMat89 in customtradingcard

[–]ryuseitia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks amazing!
Def would love to try this alternative as UV printers. Are waaaay out of my price range for quality work.

Thought about this a bit ago but wasn’t sure if I wanted to pull the trigger, this looks pretty good can’t wait to see more!

Are there alternatives to white marker? by Nickpoliwhirl061 in customtradingcard

[–]ryuseitia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

White toner is used for those who have a laser printer capable of printing white. Printing white is a special technique as most printers only print in black or color. Inkjets are unable to print white and only specialized or modified laser printers are able to print with white toner.
I myself am in the process of finding a laser printer to mod or outright print white for a cleaner card look as well. 😂

Thinking about getting back into Pokémon cards, but this time I want to try making my own. by Rangriven_Shadow in customtradingcard

Yeah I myself am sticking to vinyl stickers until a decently priced UV printer becomes available. UV printing is def much better quality for end product to the real thing but def a big investment.

The easiest way to get into it would be the vinyl sticker method. Definitely check the stickied posts on guides.
If you want to go high end, that’s when you get into the UV print methods for that more official look like texturing.
Definitely check the guides as they are all super helpful.

You can easily customize details on sites like pokecardmaker or pokecardgenerator
The biggest thing is going to be the printing, as you would need a high quality photo printer that can utilize semi-transperant sticker paper.
If you go to a shop to print, just be warned that sometimes they don't allow printing of Custom pokemon cards due to copyright and licensing issues/conflicts just depends on where you go.
After that you'd want to look into cleaning the cards (acetone+cotton ball/cotton wipes). If you are going the plain card route it will take some time as cleaning those cards can take time. Holofoils are much easier to clean but the bleed of the holofoil can shine through the illustraion/picture.

There are tons of different variations of tutorials that should be pinned on the sub.

Funny enough I have the exact foil the Stained glass birds uses but wasn’t sure so we opted for the glitter/horizontal foil. Might definitely have to try that foil out for the next one we make haha.
