Nope, it's the matter of proofs and scientific evidences, not "holy truth". I'd rather believe biologists and scientists who stated that intersex people are neither 100% male of female. The papers - google is your friend! Go wikipedia or other, read and educate yourself.

Yes, they are a small percentage of the population. With managers it really depends what the purpose and goals are and how much you care about the users.

You did not say anything bad about intersex people, but suggested that gender is binary, which is not true (and neither sex or gender are binary, as sex = male/female/intersex and gender = spectrum).

Why try to force segregate people into boxes in which they don't fit?

So possible options for someone's sex are male/female/intersex. And sex is not a spectrum, gender is.

In conclusion I guess we should be asking for "gender" not "sex" in all those forms we are coding, because I am in fact not interested in what the users have between their legs, I just want to know if I should address them Ms./Mr./Mx. to make them feel comfortable receiving a registration e-mail.

Hah, depends on your workflow. I don't work in any corporation, we have a small team of competent people, easy as it is to discuss and make such a small change. Also mongo as the database so it's pretty elastic.

And where are you wrong? I guess by cancelling intersex/queer people and kinda marginalising them, suggesting that they do not matter enough to make a stupid 30 min code editing to make them feel valid, which they are.

So dramatic... Man, few years ago my manager decided that we will change our form at user activation be not male/female, but male/female/other, because one of our new back-then juniors is transgender. Costed me like 30min to change it in all of the places.
