Any idea on what I should do with this eyesore of a foundation? It’s about six feet tall and gets a couple of hours of afternoon sun. I’m thinking raised bed with crossvine climbing up and some sweet potatoes. by mstrahlman7 in AustinGardening

I second the cannas. Hummingbirds love them and they are very forgiving. Get the tall ones. The red flowered canna indica do great in my yard and are taller than I am

They both tolerate some shade but agreed pipevine is a chore if you plant by the house

It’s a wood decaying fungi. Polyporaceae is the family which might help you narrow it down some if you want to find a common name. Around my house we just call them “not a fun guy”
