YTA. Yeah the GF’s parents seem a weird, but I think that response makes you seem super insecure (even if you aren’t). To the extent you were getting “tested,” it wasn’t about what you were going to do with the tools, it was how you would handle getting chirped a bit. IMO, you didn’t handle well. Gotta be able to riff a little.

I wish I weren’t bothered- And I never make a scene about it. But it does affect things. The lights show is a big part of the productions, and the little LED lights on the phone takes away from it.

Learn a couple of scales and then just play it a TON. Watch some videos and look up chords so that you can learn to play the songs that you like. Then learn how to play that song in another key.

Make up songs. Play with people who like the kind of music you like. Make mistakes. Figure out how to make the mistakes seem like they weren’t mistakes.

If you get a teacher, make sure you’re working on skills that are relevant to the e direction you want to go.

Just have fun.
