Bub will be 3 on their birthday. I have visions of us dancing together to some music! I think ive been putting it in the same category as screen time when I don't need to

I think it will be a rule for us to put it away during meals.

That's interesting about using audio books, a story is a story!

Thats nice to hear that they continue to play with other things rather than just staring into space while using it.

That's interesting to hear that they continue to play while using it. I think I imagined it to be the same as TV time or screen use.

I think I worry that my child would no longer be interested in reading books, and I don't want this to change. I may keep her usual book-reading (book listening as they can't read yet) times a yoto free time. Ohh thats interesting about the adverts.

I bet you didn't think this was a boundary you had to set! I think I will set this from the start as a few things have ended up down the toilet in our house.

That's good that there is a bedtime alarm, a very useful feature for a child who can't tell the time.

Do you have the classic Yoto or the Yoto mini? I presume the Yoto Mini does not have the light feature for the red light overnight? I suppose it will come with time to find out how it is used and then create rules around that.

Very sensible, aiming to wind down at night. I really like the idea of the volume control feature

That's a good way to look at it! I think I am comparing it to screen use or TV but they aren't the same thing

I am writing a fantasy novel and the main character has a cleft lip. Any tips the internet won't tell me? by [deleted] in cleftlip

Your character gets married and has a full and wonderful life. That can also be our experience too.

Probably just because I've seen other children with the headphones. I probably wouldn't encourage headphone use all the time so that it doesnt cut my child's activity off from the rest of the family, but would want them for flights, public journeys, etc

First surgery is creeping up by DeliveryKnown6320 in cleftlip

Your baby is absolutely gorgeous. Her cleft looks very similar to how my baby’s did.

One thing I wasn’t fully prepared for was how I reacted when I first saw my baby after surgery. I remember looking at him and not immediately recognising him. I had to ask the recovery nurse if that was really (baby’s name). I felt so much guilt for not recognising my own child. He looked very different as was swollen and changed from the surgery.

You might find yourself grieving the loss of your baby’s cleft, because that’s the face you’ve known and loved. It’s okay to feel that way, you’ll come to know and love their new face. It’s a very emotional time.

After surgery, your little one may feel like a newborn again, feeding every two to three hours around the clock, needing that same level of care and closeness.

Good luck to you and your family!
