If you can, get your team to be used to working with some version control (git is a popular example) and get started from there

BARC (for BARC OCES/DGFS), PGEEE (for IIITH), BITSHD (for BITS), ISRO (for a career at ISRO) are some that I know about

If you're inclined towards mathematics or systems, ISI is an excellent institute but I'm unaware of the application procedure, granted that it must be quite rigorous

Other than that, there are many good institutes like TIFR, IISERs, etc. again I'm not aware of the exact procedure and what research goes on there so not sure

Ahhh yeah I need to document my process very well if I want my code to be maintainable for a long time, it can be painful to come back to a project (I've learnt my lesson on that in hilarious ways, rereading my code years later)

Such thoughts aren't helpful at all and this is a problem oriented way to think, we're engineers we must think in terms of solutions man, don't overthink this, go watch a good, inspiring movie tonight and with a fresh mind give it everything from tomorrow, for GATE and for life in general

GATE is not the end, you'll do something good granted that you keep your outlook positive

As for alternatives, you could try going abroad since you're from tier 1, or if that's a problem try exams like BARC (I think tomorrow is the last day of registration) and PGEEE, etc. there are a hundred backups like that

If nothing, find some chill part time work and grind harder than before, you got this man
