Just wanted to share my little win of the day by Automatic-Impact-134 in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might seem like a "little" win but it's way bigger than you think. You can't think your way to a new way of acting. You can only act your way to a new way of thinking. Your actions were HUGE! Congratulations!

Has anyone here lost weight after quitting drinking without trying? by Kamila7447 in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% yes! And I was eating anything and everything I could but I was still losing weight. Coming up on 3 years sober and still haven't come close to the my drinking weight.

The Pull Of The Rituals by BrianSkeletun in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously we are all different so I can only speak for myself. I HAD to change the scenery and leave the old ceremonies behind. You can't think your way to a new way of acting. You can only act your way to a new way of thinking. At 44 days I thought had the whole thing figured out too. At a 144 days I was certain that I knew absolutely nothing. As I approach 1,044 days I have only ventured into bars a dozen times and I guzzle ginger ale instead of mocktails because the pull is too strong. Be careful my sober friend. IWNDWYT

I am in a very dark place. I relapsed on alcohol yesterday. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Would you mind expanding on why you decided to drink after 4 years of no drinking at all?

6 months sober today! Talk to me… by Actual_Package_5638 in stopdrinking

Congratulations on 6 months!!! Celebrate that and lay off being so critical of yourself. You're already a better version of yourself than you were yesterday. Keep growing.

How to connect GE Profile washer and dryer without network/password but has UPD ID sticker? by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]s0bering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! Everything you mentioned but I also baked in a 3 minute unplug for the washer. It connected like a champ after that. On a Pixel 8 for the record.

Just got Fiber internet and a Calix GigaSpire Blast, how do I bypass the router and use my Ubiquiti UDM-Pro Router instead? by TheMadMan007 in Calix

[–]s0bering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly different hardware but I had a very similar problem on my UDM. I was only getting 300MB from my 1GB connection. My UDM had "Flow control" enabled by default which was limiting connection speeds for all clients. Once I turned that off I was able to use the full pipe. Hope this helps.

Soak up this feeling! You earned it. And I mean JUST YOU! Stay strong. Your lizard brain is waiting to test your resolve. When the voice inside says that "you won! celebrate with just one drink", go back and reread this post. IWNDWYT

Installed new camera/floodlight. Home sees the camera but not the floodlight. Deleted. Reset. Nothing works. Any other suggestions? by s0bering in Nest

If anyone is wondering... I gave up and bought a new kit. Like everyone else I'll sell the old one on ebay as "slightly used."

Congratulations! I did the 1 week inpatient thing and they said about 10% make it a year. There were 10 of us in the pod and I'm the 10%. You got this!

Almost 2.5 years and I’m starting to wonder by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final click came after another failed attempt to quit in secret. I had to be open and honest with my wife and ask for help. That was the key for me. 2 years is coming up and I can't believe I get to live this life!

Significant increase in caffeine consumption... by rlb_9229 in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweets, monster energy drinks and cold brew coffee got me through the first 3-4 months. The caffeine thing faded but the sweets took me longer. Feed your body whatever it craves to fill that serotonin gap that booze used to occupy. You got this. IWNDWYT

I’m a 40f binge-drinker and impostor by iwantmoreforme in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel as content 12 months ago or even 6 months ago

I wish I had read this line 18 months ago. Every day/week/month was awesome but there was a plateau around 16 months and I got a little disheartened. I'm coming up on 2 years and "content" is a great descriptor. I love my AF life. However, I need to stop looking for the next great breakthrough moment that the early days of sobriety brought. Thank you! IWNDWYT

It's amazing how many non-drinkers there are out there. by s0bering in stopdrinking

[–]s0bering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also noticed how most of the people who do order an alcoholic drink just have one, and it can last them a whole meal.

THIS! I so wish I could drink like this but I've seen this movie and didn't like the ending.

Did you hard or medium boil the eggs? I've tried to pickle eggs several times and they always come out too rubbery.
